Retired Never Was, Coulda been wannabe
How can there not be a thread on this already? I loved this film. Steve McQueen as a wrongfully imprisoned man with his never ending attempts at escape, his repeated capture, and the struggle of this man to be free. Yes, I know it sounds like a lot of other films, but this was truly an enjoyable watch - one of those films I just HAD to go buy (and there aren't many of those). You also have a young Dustin Hoffman in a supporting role. The film is set in French Guiana, South America during the 1930's.

..tsk, seems imdb says there is supposed to be a remake in 2010
It'll suck.
Anyone else see the original and like it as much as I did?
Doctor: [Briefly examining Dega in a prefunctory manner] You're fine. NEXT!
Dega: [Walking away] Must be better than I feel.
Doctor: [Briefly examining Papillon] You're in wonderful shape.
Papillon: How do you fail an examination like this?
Doctor: NEXT!
[Papillon is contemplating a daring leap from a cliff to escape]
Dega: [the plan] It seems so desperate. You think it will work?
Papillon: Does it matter?
Papillon: [to Dega] Me they can kill... You they own!
