the book sucks, and the movie sucks. hyped up hippie tripe. There were many great authors from Burroughs era, i fail to see why anyone gave a shit about him.

Beatnik tripe perhaps but the hippies came a decade later. I've never got through the book so I won't comment. With regard to the movie, however, even if you don't like the story, the film is certainly an achievement in many ways.

The film is NOTHING like the book.

If I wanted a Burroughs documentary then I would have watched/read one.

A genuine disappointment, IMO

And I couldn't agree more with DigitalDuality - a terribly overrated book to begin with. I guess when you have people like Allen Ginsburg and Kurt Cobain praising the novel it is bound to have a strong following. Does that make it any good?
