i don't know, I started watching it and I thought it drag just a bit.. ended up falling asleep before even the famous sex seen happened... and I really don't have interest in renting it again.

i want to bump this to see if anyone else has seen it and has new opinions on it

i just today saw this for the first time.
and i am still wondering about and feeling out the ending in my head

oh and questioning the awards and accalim for halle berry's proformance

i saw it when it first came out, so my memory is a little fuzzy about the exact details of the movie.

i do remember good acting and being satisfied with the ending.

I loved this movie. It was just so full of raw human emotion. I loved Halle Berry in this film and I think she fully deserved ALL the acclaim that she got for it. This film was just fantastic.

its definitely an actor's/director's movie. long static shots, character driven, pure story telling. not the type of film you would normally get out of hollywood.

however, I'm the type who likes to be entertained when I watch a movie, and this was rather boring.

watched this movie again last night. The first time I watched it I really didn't see the hype about it.

However, after I watched it again, I now have a greater appreciation for the movie. There's a lot of powerful things going on and I think the acting was awesome, EXCEPT for Halle Berry's over dramatic tyraids a few times and her son was a terrible pretend crier.

One question though: What was up with the sex scene and halle's hand in the bird cage?? I STILL do not understand the significance of that.

Oh--one more thing the filmography of this movie was awesome. There were so many really cool pictures in this movie. i.e the part when Halle's in the bathroom brushing her teeth and you see her face in the mirror rather than looking at it...there are several others too.

i really enjoyed this, but felt that it was still a little over-rated. it's a bit of the 21 grams syndrome - whenever a seemingly arthouse film becomes popular (and includes hollywood actors, often enough), it tends to described time and time again as the "best thing ever".

but this was good, just not brilliant. wanderer: i'd have to see it again to figure out the bird cage thing, i've entirely forgotten about it!

*perhaps* something to do with her feeling caged, as a black woman, in a redneck town? that's the best i can come up with...

i thought this was a pretty good movie. the best role i've seen halle berry in for sure and billy bob was awesome like he (almost) always is.
