Alias creator JJ Abrams adapts his tv spy stuff to the big screen for the 3rd installment of this potentially infinite franchise. MI works like an american james bond series, with just as much excitment and style but instead of english dignity, there's american pride.
MI3 is a very exciting installment that polishes and improves on the series since the second, by john woo (which i've only seen once). JJ Abrams successfully takes the best elements from his tv experience and explodes it all to another level on screen. There are dribs and drabs of the sentimental soap opera he likes to put on the small screen, but it's almost completely overshadowed by a disturbing intro, and well developed action sequences. Unlike the insulting work of bruckheimer and bay and their immitators, the action in this film is very satisfying.
While Mr Abrams' style doesn't come close to Brian De Palmer's, he still manages to captivate and thrill for a solid two hours of entertainment. My only regret is i didn't have enough time to get a bathtub of popcorn before the screening.
