Film: Matchstick Men

I, for one, enjoyed this movie . I enjoyed seeing Nicholas Cage play a crazy kind of guy, and I simply love Sam Rockwell - very talented guy. I thought they kept the cast small and the story simple, and I enjoyed it.

Any other opinions?

how come? i'm not the biggest fan of scott (i don't like the overblown-ness of many of his films), but he has made some fantastic stuff - blade runner and alien, of course, come to mind immediately. unless that's not why you were shocked

I thought this movie was alright for the first part of it. It was a little strange, but I generally like Cage's acting. The end of the movie was just too much for me though--I didn't like all the new twists. I give the movie props for ending in a way I didn't think it would, but I still didn't enjoy it.

Saw this the other day. I thought it was hysterical. I loved the ending and thought all the acting was terrific. I'm probably gonna purchase the DVD this weekend.

I think the shock of Ridley Scott directing this film would be that it is out of character for him. This would be a relatively small scale movie compared to most of the other films he's made.

I spotted the twist near the beginning (sounds arrogant but I really did) and that kind of distracted as I was 2nd guessing and looking for clues. The plot is a little hollywood in places but thanks to Ridley, it's very watchable. Cage is good - not too OTT this time. He sells the Turet's / OCC quite well. But his character was a bit.... spoiler... fucking stupid.

I thought Matchstick Men was one of the most underrated movies of the year. I loved the acting, and I did enjoy the plot. Very entertaining... and somewhat moving.

Just saw it today, although I have to admit half way through I could see what was happening, I really enjoyed Nicholas Cage's performance and the camera work to show the GAD (general anexiety disorder). I've never seen a movie that showed such condition in realistic way. I do admit the ending and the "moral" of the story was a bit cheesy , still the NC performance was excellent. If anyone needs xanax for real, you should see this movie.

I didnt like it too much. I didnt find the way he was fooled in the end to be all that believable. And the cons that he pulls werent all that believable either. I didnt really care about any of the characters and I found the anxiety disorder thing to be really annoying and distracting. Plus I thought it moved really slow. So yeah i didnt like it.

Cage was very funny in this movie. The little disorder he had was hilarious. I really enjoyed watching it, it was a great laugh.

Hmm, I liked the movie, I DID think the 'con' he got pulled on him by his partner was a bit over the top, but beyond that I thought it was a pretty good movie.
