Film: Man on fire

Have any of you seen this movie, what were your thoughts? I personally can't believe there has not been more hype about it, i was stunned while i watched this movie and thought Denzel gave an amazing performance. Even stranger was the genuine acting ability of Marc Anthony in this flick, i thought he played a good role too.

By far the best parts of this movie was it's use of music, there is a haunting song that is shown whenever a slow sequence of events is shown or when a particularly moving moment is screened.

What did you guys think

(p.s - poll me please)

Was really looking forward to seeing it, then saw it and loved it. It was fantastic. Great flick, highly recommended :)

CB :)

I especially like the production of the moive. For instance the subtitles, which are done so well (very origianl). Also, I really didnt like Marc Anthony that much, but Denzel and the little girl are great. Soundtrack sets mood great.

It was really a good film all-around.

I thought the redemption theme was interesting.

One big question I have though. At the end there is a scene where Denzel is staring out at a hillside. They spent so long on that shot that I believe it must represent something. But for the life of me I'm not sure what the director was trying to imply. Does anyone have any thoughts on that?

Was that the part right at the end where he was dying? I haven't seen this since it was out at the cinemas, and from what I remember, that was basically as he was slipping away.

I love that movie. I watched it mid flight between Singapore andVancouver and recently bought it on DVD. I just love it- esp Denzel. The camera work is amazing.
Just a question though- the little girl (Dakota Fanning)
what else has she been in and are her parents actors too? Name is familiar

I was impressed that a former neighbours actor (Rhada Mitchell) was in this film- she puts on a good American Accent.:)

she was in "the cat in the hat" and coming out in the horror movie "hide and seek"

Very cool movie, I liked it alot. Denzel kicked some serious ass.

Although I'm getting sort of tired of him playing only cop/FBI agent roles.

Yes that's the part I was talking about.

Thanks LinusSL. Guess I was just trying to read too much into it. ;)

I gave it three stars

Overall I thought it was a good movie. Perhaps a little too long and

************MAJOR SPOILER ALERT**************

I thought that it was a bit of a cop out in the end when the girl turned out to be alive and well after all. These men were professionals and I don't think he would keep the girl alive for months when the possibilty of return was so low.

^ You must see this film. His character is not a normal run-of the mill cop/FBI/tough guy. Its worth watching.
