Personally I prefer the return of the living dead zomies. Intelligent and they really don't want to harm humans, they just want to eat their brains because being dead hurts--it's their drug of choice.

Those movies are being remade too, but they will probably suck. I think land of the dead will be good even with intelligent zombies--of course only compared to whatever is out there at the moment--I don't think it will out do night, dawn, or day at all.

If you watch the original Night of the Living Dead you will see inteligent zombies. Just trust Romero, and never mention his name and House of the Dead in the same sentance again ;)

I've seen just about every zombie film you can think of!
Except this one movie called "The dead hate the living" The cover box looked retarded for that film!
If you read my earlier post carefully, you would know I wasn't disgracing Romero.
I was actually praising him. And you say there were intelligent zombies in Night of the Living Dead........Would you please tell me what you saw that was "Intelligent"???
I don't remember seeing a Zombie getting in a car and driving off somewhere.

I will make a notation on what I think was really funny for a zombie film.......... In Return of the Living Dead, the greatest line ever said by a zombie was: "SEND MORE PARAMEDICS"

Return of the Living Dead is fucking hilarious. Gotta love the tar-zombie down in the basement. I also read something about them making a #4 in the series. Supposedly it is to be filmed at the abandoned Chernobyl site :D

Tech Kinetics< That Zombie 4 you're talking about must be the same as Lucio Fulci's "Zombie". It's got that one zombie with maggots in its eyes on the cover of the film.
I wonder why the hell it's called Zombie 4 or even Zombie 2 in some countries.. it's not a sequel to anything.

I recently bought Zombie, the Lucio Fulci movie, and am drooling over it. Havn't seen it yet, but heard nothing but good stuff about that series.

that movie is badass, you will love it.

ok guys I think you are all taking this smart zombie stuff way overboard. it is the NATURAL PROGRESSION of the Romero zombie story line. he started the idea in Day of the Dead with Bub the zombie and he has to at least add some closure with this thought. I doubt the zombies are gonna be nearly as smart as humans, my educated guess (from reading so much about the dang film) is that they learn to basically shoot guns but MOSTLY they learn how to infiltrate the fort the humans have put up.

Tech Kinetics: it depends what you define as "smart" zombie in NOTLD. remember when Ben's lights to his car were still on when he went in the house? it was known that zombies hated lights so they crushed the car lights with a rock. now, this isn't being a damn genius but it takes a little brain activity to realize this.

and ACTUALLY, wasn't there talk of in NOTLD how someone saw a zombie at like the gas station get in a truck and "try to drive" but just hit the gas tanks and blow everything up?

just because your normal zombie's brain is dead, doesn't mean they still don't have primitive functions and primitive brain cognitions!

EAT IT BITCHES!!!! :D

Tech Kinetics - What I meant by inteligent zombies is they used weapons. The one zombie threw the rock into the window, and the zombie child killed her mother with a spade (which Romero has talked about specifically, because he wanted to show a zombie killing in some other way then by biting).
Also, I just bought The Dead Hate the Living. I'll let you know how it is (my zombie mania knows no bounds ;)).

******LAND OF THE DEAD SEMI-SPOILER******
It's not really a spoiler, just a warning for people who want to go into the movie not knowing anything at all about anyone.

You know how all the black characters in Romero films are pretty fucken badass...well, I just can't wait to see what Romero has in store for the main zombie of the movie (who is black). Honestly, it's gonna be some major ass kicking!

Der Kaese - They are making a 4th, and a 5th. The 4th takes place in Chernobyl and the 5th...well, I guess some dealers get ahold of the Trioxyn-5 gas and make E pills out of em :)
Also, I saw a DVD titled Zombie 3 today and I was lead to believe it was a sequal to Zombi/Zombie 2/Zombie 4 (all one movie), and I am now so confused about that movie I have no idea what to think. If anyone has any info about why there are so many different titles for this movie (I can't imagine how they released all diff titles in USA) and if it has any true sequals, I would love to know.

Also, supposedly on April 29th the trailer for LotD is coming out!!! I guess it will be shown when the new XXX hits theaters. If you guys want a badass zombie update website check out http://www.moviesonline.ca/movie12.htm
Romero's site never seems to update...

I love all this zombie stuff, especially romero's living dead trilogy. I also have enjoyed the 1990 remake of NOLD and 2004 remake of DOTD. I cant wait till this movie comes out, it's pretty much gonna be the tightest thing ever.

synopsis: In a modern-day world where the walking dead roam an uninhabited wasteland, the living try to lead "normal" lives behind the walls of a fortified city. A new society has been built by a handful of ruthless opportunists, who live in the towers of a skyscraper, high above the chaos on the streets below. Outside the city walls, an army of the dead is evolving, and with the survival of the city at stake, a group of hardened mercenaries is called into action.

GREAT POST! I've been a Romero fan ever since I was 5 and knew what a director was! Even many of his non-zombie flicks, like Creepshow!
I think I will have mixed views of LOTD. It's definitely gonna be better than that pile of garbage called the Dawn of the Dead remake, but I have never liked the idea of Intellegint zombies.
I think it's creepier knowing they are as unhuman like as possible. That is why I didn't really like Day of the Dead. BOB was pretty much a human.

I agree with the thought that zombies are more creepy with less and less attatchments of humanity. but come on people, by "smart zombies" I don't think Romero is going to introduce us to a gentically altered breed of zombies that grow machine guns instead of hands... they just learn how to communicate and set up an ordered attack. they're still "all dead and messed up" and will eat your brains.

I don't like the idea of the zombies being able to communicate with each other, I mean cmon, the whole premise of a zombie movie should be this: They got the numbers, we got the brains. That alone makes a pretty even matchup. Seeing zombies use "teamwork" or think together or whatever you wanna call it is going to make the film cheesy, and not the good kind of cheesy.

Asia Argento was born for this exact purpose, you know... to star in this fine film.
