Yeah, i went to Bowie's concert in sydney last friday..

Words cannot describe the experience. We were 7 rows from the front middle section. I couldn't believe how close we were to him. And yes, we looked for the bulge, and it was slightly to the right! ;)

what about willy wonka and the chocolate factory and the wizard of oz?

The Labyrinth

Hmmm odd movie but pretty good. David Bowie. yummy once again o_O Looked like he packed his pants with socks lol. Sexy.

Theres gotta be like a million threads about this one in the lounge! Yeah loved it, so 80s and camp. One of those old good ones that relied on real sets and creatures and not just CGI all the time.

I love this movie. Jennifer C looks great, even though she needs to get something done about her eyebrows, and the puppets are sweet. I watched this on K and had a spiritual experience. I espically loved the optical illusion with the wall.

dance magic dance

I can't express how much I love this movie.

I know it inside out, back to front. In fact, a few years ago I spent nearly six months working on Australia's first theatrical music production of Labryinth, which we had to get permission from Jim Henson's estate to produce. I worked on costumes. I made Ludo (masses of matress foam shaped and glued together, and orange spray paint ;) ), Jareth's cape and wig, the Firies (oh so many red shiny lycra jumpsuits!!), the doorknockers, even down to the talking hands and the rocks in the Bog of Eternal Stench. The gobins were the most fun - we just got them to bring raggedly clothes from home; sprayed them green and brown and stuck kitchen implements on their heads :D

It was the most fun I've ever had.

You remind me of the babe..........

remembering how much I enjoy labyrinth, neverending story, princess bride, flight of dragons, et al gives me a huge warm fuzzy lovey feeling all over that i just dont get with other movies :D

...the babe with the power. The power of voodoo. Who do?. You do. You remind me of the babe!" =D

One of my favourite childhood films and I still love it now.

"Sarah...fwend" =D

The Dark Crystal was much better.

I don't remember ever seeing this as a kid (although I must have at some point) but I think the really positive reviews in this thread are pretty heavily tinted with nostalgia. It's a fun movie, but not that good.

The most notable thing is the owl in the opening sequence; it marks the first photorealistic CGI animal in film.

^Nah. I think TDC was probably better in terms of its aesthetic beauty. But Labyrinth has a much more engaging story IMO. Even if that story does bare many similarities to The Wizard Of Oz :\

I hear what you're saying about the positive reviews though. A lot of those movies get great reviews based on what they meant to people back then. I guess a lot of folk have trouble letting go of that nostalgia. Myself included. But nevertheless, it's still an excellent movie. My only problem with it now though is trying to deal with the annoying Jennifer Connelly. Quite frankly, her bratty behaviour annoys the hell out of me. Thank God she's made some improvements on herself since then :|
