and i mean, come on people! this forum hardly ever has any controversy in it.... i needed to make some! im just trying to play devil's advocate and spark something here that will be beyond the normal movie critisisms of 'cool film, man'. truth is, this film reminds me about my life a few years ago. except i like the guy. also, i am an adopted child. if my birth parents believed in abortion i wouldn't be here- so you could see why it would be hard for me to be vehemently pro-choice like i may have sounded.
i actually like the film. and i found it funny.
lordy, i just became a troll. stirring the pot, but not just for enjoyment, also to try and interest people more in the forum. everybody loves a good fight. sigh, sorry

I have no problem with you being controversial and stirring up things, but saying it was Christian propaganda was just goofy....

that isn't christianity, that is being a good fucking person. srsly, what a stretch, man...i am almost embarrassed for you

i haven't seen the movie, but i'm going to have to agree here. Getting married? Regardless of gender learn to put that person before yourself. Having a baby? Be damned sure to put that baby before yourself.

There's nothing instinctly christian about it.

IT had my high little ass laughing the whole time. Definately a good movie to see stoned.

It was a very entertaining way to spend almost 2hrs. Hilarious. If you found 40yr Old Virgin funny, this is definitely a must see.

Loved this movie... best mainstream comedy i've seen in years. I laughed to the point of tears.

Best on film mushroom trip ever.

^ indeed.

i was expecting a mostly slushy rom-com but i laughed, pretty much non-stop, for the entire duration of the movie.

how about pro-life propaganda?

i loved this movie! and to think, i nearly boycotted due to the title... seriously, "seth rogan's jew fro" would've been a better title

very funny throughout without being too over the top.... which apparently is difficult to do

^ long time no see.

it would have been much shorter if she just had an abortion. i expect some of the jokes would have, however, been funnier :)

i saw this movie the weekend it came out. i ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! :)

i hardly ever want to see a movie so bad that i go to the theater (the last movie i saw in theaters was waiting, and i think that was like 2 years ago) but i HAD to see this one right away.

i thought it was hilarious, i haven't laughed that much at a movie in.... i have no idea how long. and i absolutely love katherine heigl. even though her being pregnant obviously took away from her usual total hotness!

i'm def buying the dvd when it comes out too :)

Best comedy since Borat (yes, this was even better than the excellent 40 Year Old Virgin), and among the ten best comedies I've ever seen.

With writers this talented, the plot is irrelevant - expect more fantastic stuff from this bunch of writers until they become so fat and happy that they stop trying their hardest.

Inducing laughter from smart, well-written, well-performed, original jokes is ALWAYS paramount in comedy.

It's EXTREMELY difficult to write two hours' worth of excellent jokes, let alone weave a plot around them, let alone develop likeable characters, and that, is why, in my opinion, despite the fact that it is BY FAR the form of art that I enjoy the most (as a writer, as a performer, as an observer, as a critic, and as a passionate fan) - truly GREAT COMEDY movies are extremely difficult to make, and as a result, I'd probably only place approximately twelve to fifteen comedies among my all-time Favorte Hundred Movies.

HINT: SEE THIS MOVIE

this movie was really QUITE hilarious. i enjoyed it just as much, if not more (hard to say though because i LOVE steve carrell so much) than 40 year old virgin. seth rogan in this movie was funny as shit and paul rudd and the chick that plays his wife (i forget her name now, but she was the bitchy sister in big daddy) are brilliant in this movie also.

one of the funniest scenes is when the girl calls to tell seth rogan's character (sorry for my lack of remember names) that she wants to meet up with him to go out again (to tell him she's prego) and they all think he's gonna get laid! their gestures during that scene (by the time its over) are fucking hilarious!

Chic flick, but for the most part pretty funny. Lots of T n' A, well, mostly 'T'. ;)
too much thought with too little awareness leads to fanciful but inaccurate speculation

Sweet, hilarious, and filthy all at the same time- I loved it!

"Please take the chairs away. I don't like them. The big one is staring at me and that short one is being very droll."

Yeah. This movie is too long, takes itself too seriously under all the contrived laughs. Did not do it for me at all.

If you liked the 40 year old virgin rather than just found it mildly amusing then go and see this piece of turd with all the other sheep.

and jude101... Can you actually elaborate properly as to why this film deserves one star? Given the extraordinary amount of regurgitated obvious bullshit that comes out every year, don't you think you're being a bit harsh? ie. if this film deserves one star - what does Deck the Halls (or another similarly horrible film) deserve?

I take it that I must have elaborated "improperly" in my last post in this thread then8)

Can you believe that, having found the movie dire, I was not really bothered about justifying why I gave it a one star rating on a message board?

Anyhow, 5 reasons why I hate this movie.

1. The comedy is terrible and there is no chemistry between the actors.

2. Everything is shot in an attempt to look smooth and cool, like when the characters sit around and reference movies like "Spiderman" and shit. This kind of thing pisses me off, and the film is full of it.

3. Seth Rogan is a one track actor. He can drop a line well but the emotional highs and lows of this character are beyond him. Paul Rudd and he should have swopped roles.

4. What exactly is the moral lesson from this movie? Fuck somebody, get her pregnant, discover you are incompatible in every way but decide to have a child together anyhow thus condemning the unborn fetus to a horrible life and very likely a broken home? Fuck that. Abort/adopt/raise the kid yourself millionaire miss perfect.

5. The film is 130 minutes long. That is at least 30 minutes too long.

One Star. I stand by my decision.

I do not wish to debate this, obviously if you enjoyed this movie and think it is the best thing since sliced bread then you must have a finer appreciation than I of all things schmaltz.
