film: Kill Bill

^^ I think to truly appreciate the film, you have to be into anime. As I said before, the whole film was done in anime style, and done WELL. Everything from the cinematography to the dialog was modeled after the anime "formula". Watch a few Anime films and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Ive seen a bunch of anime and i like it just fine..it isnt the visual stuff i dont get. Its the "story", the "plot", the "point"...lol

i'd like to point out somthing....
as far as stealing/adapting/borrowing/adopting ideas and styles and such....
"ravers" have been doing it since the beginnig... look at the fliers, the samples in the music, ect....

there will come a time when we run out of ideas... what then? we borrow old ones and make them new.....

A lot of people that have only seen a few anime films really only appreciate it for its visual appeal. Anime is NOT only eye candy. There is usually a deep plot lying behind all the art. The plot lines are usually much more convoluted and harder to piece together than typical films or tv shows. The characters emotions are focused on heavily in Anime films. More often than not, anger fueled revenge is a main focus in these films... this was obviously the main theme in Kill Bill. Tarantino definately went above and beyond in making the revenge justifiable in the eyes of the viewer... I.E. her being a coma rape victim...

More often than not, Anime films contain scenes that obviously could not happen in a live action film without looking absolutely ridiculous or extremely gruesome. A lot of times Anime's "point" is to bring to life thoughts and ideas that cannot be captured on normal film, with an artisitic twist. Kill Bill's point was very similar, but done in live action, and for the first time, done well. All those ridiculous japanese martial arts movies would have been so much better in animation. The only two live action movies I have personally seen that pulled off larger than life feats very well, were Kill Bill and Crouching Tiger...

The only two live action movies I have personally seen that pulled off larger than life feats very well, were Kill Bill and Crouching Tiger...

dont forget the entire matrix series.... at least IMHO, it is live action anime at it's finest....

I never really thought of The Matrix as a live anime before, but in some ways i suppose it would fit. The thing about Kill Bill and Crouching Tiger was that they were filmed in similar styles as Anime is coreographed or animated. The matrix's theme and larger than life action scenes definately fit with Anime action scenes, but the story and mainly STYLE was more American and science fiction than Japanese animation... I still need to see the final matrix too though.

DBZ live action?? I would kill for that. I absolutely love the epic story line / emotion battle scenes of dbz... Im not quite sure how it would be live action though... I imagine Cell, Buu, Freiza, and other bad guys would look RIDICULOUS if it wasn't pulled off right. I hope it has a HUGE budget, cause that would kick fucking ass!

The matrix really only has the larger than life action scenes / fight scenes in it...i thought about it over night and really don't think it fits...its a sci fi action flick with over the top fight scenes....anime is so much more than just action...

Well, according to killbill2.net, in the FAQ....

Wait a minute.. *counts fingers* .. Didn't they model the DiVAS on Fox Force Five; ya know, that group Uma Thurman mentions in Pulp Fiction?
According to a recent interview, yes, the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad (DiVAS) are supposed to be based upon the Fox Force Five announced in Pulp Fiction. The only difference is that instead of 5 women, there are 4 women and 1 man.

So uh.. I don't think it's that hard to fathom, personally.

I just got home from a free sneak preview of Vol. 2....

so fucking rocked!!!!

I am not going to say another word so nothing is spoiled.

One thing I thought was great, is that he gives you a gentle synopsis in the beginning for anyone who forgot the details of Vol. 1.

You guys will seriously rave about it after Friday.

The man that killed her father is not bill. His name Matsumuto or something to that extent. Also she kills him so how would that be Bill?

heard a rumor that QT will make vol. 3 in literally 15 years, something about vivica fox's daughter in the movie revenging against the bride. just seeing if anyone has heard the same.

there is another rumor that QT is gonna make an all anime prequel to kill bill, but i think qt shot it down as just a rumor and nothing more.
