This is a documentary about evangelical Christians in middle America, and how they are brainwashing their children to become warriors of "Christ."

All I could think while watching this movie was "We are doomed." Richard Dawkins is right.

Its terrifying. Many of those kids will never even have a chance to develop their own thoughts. They will be stuck in that fundamentalist, twisted world for their entire lives, and will believe so strongly in it they will probably be willing to both die and kill for their beliefs.

i saw the trailers for it. even those were damn near enraging. evangelicals are totally fucking insane.

it's just a shame that people like this put a bad name on all religious practises.

I saw something about this on tv awhile ago. It was really disturbing.
I went to a Christian camp when I was a young teen..it was nothing like this place thank god. Im more of an agnostic spiritual type than a Christian now, but I still look back on that summer as an extremely positive and uplifting experiance.
I agree with L2R completely, and thats why overall, I dont see organized religion as a good thing, it leads to this type of psychosis.
Poor kids..I can only hope that one day they expose themselves to different people and cultures and belief systems so that they can decide for themselves what they truly believe in.

I'd be interested in watching this for sheer sensational satisfaction but lets get real... fundamentalists are insane?! No wai! This isn't new... and people who are shocked really needed a healthy dose of reality.

After seeing the film, all i can reply with is 'yeah, but...'

Really, it's one thing to expect insanity, and then actually being presented with the brand of sheer evangelical craziness is another. The editing is slightly exploitative, with a 'voice in the middle' type radio commentator, and spooky music accompanying many sequences, there's so much here that film makers couldn't manipulate that's utterly terrifying.

Jesus camp is hands down the most frightening movie I have ever seen. Children of 6 should not be forced to live in a world created by their fucking wacko evangelical families.

It is a perfect example of religion doing far more harm than good.

I am trying to get through this movie at the moment. I say "trying" because I keep having to get up and shut it off after about 10 minutes because I become so livid at what is on the screen. It seriously makes me shout at the television and want to pull my hair out. :X

And then I calm down and think about it, and realize that, really, what do I expect? America was founded by a group of people who left their home country and their religion behind because they thought it was too permissive. They *wanted* to start a stricter, more puritanical society.

Thank you for posting that. I was going to write the same thing.

There's so many differences between these fundies and pilgrims that I don't even know where to start. I think you're making a dangerous claim here... from a historical vangate.
