Film: Hostel 2

Terrible, absolutely terrible. After listening to Eli Roth on the radio hype this movie up to crazy levels with an ending "so crazy it will blow your mind" and "something you've never ever seen before" (duh) I was thoroughly disappointed. I know any sequel will somehow mirror the movie before it but Hostel 2 is just the same script but swapping out 3 guys for 3 girls. No originality.

I was rooting for the girls to get killed almost 30 minutes into the movie. Fuckin Bijou Phillips and the other one with the buck teeth. 8) The first one was way more graphic, there was scene where it got really bloody but that was the only scene in the movie worth considering "gruesome."

The ending = gay. What a shitty movie, not recommended.

Im not sure if the topic creator is being serious or if he saw the same film as I did. The Hostel 2 I saw opening night and the night after was absolutely breathtaking. I dont remember when I last saw a film this well made. Everything about Hostel 2 was top notch including the acting, the script, and the gore. The ending was also one of the best endings to a film in recent memory.

After seeing this amazing film Eli Roth is now in my mind one of the greatest living directors. Cabin Fever, Hostel, Hostel 2, and the hilarious Thanksgiving trailer that was in Grindhouse(another great film) makes me sure that we will see more great things from Eli Roth.

Please dont let one naysayer keep you away from this film or if you arent to keen on the torture aspect of the movie since torture is only a small part of it. My university is having a great reaction to the film with an appearance on the front page of the school paper and the 2x that I have seen this film the audience has gone crazy with applause after the credits started to roll.

Same elements of opposite sex luring victims into a shit hole? - Yes
One evil person befriends someone in a group and persuades them to hang out (disco [pt.1] and spa [pt.2]) - Yes
Same principle of human hunting for the sake of torture - Yes
Those stupid, annoying kids in this one, too? - Yes
Does someone from the main group get lost and the other set out to find him/her? - Yes
Same old crummy warehouse? - Yes

I can go on and on with the mundane similarities, like I said, it's just a revised script with women instead of guys.

The movie was so much more than that. It revealed details about the organization responsible for the torture. It didnt just focus on the victims but also the people paying to murder them. The script was top notch it was not just a rehash of the original.

the original hostel was not as gorey or disturbing as i was expecting. close, not quite.

i will probably watch hostel 2, but i'll wait until it's on cable. i am excited to hear the bijou phillips is in it- she's one of my girl crushes

I actually prefer this sequel to the original... granted there were some tweens that snuck into the theatre and freaked the fuck out during the opening dream sequence and ran out of the theatre crying- so that helped my opinion of the film. I feel that by this point I'm so desensitized to gore and graphic violence I shouldn't expect to be impressed by it in a film... the film was infinitely more well-crafted than the last, the story accounted for logical progressions for some of the returning characters, and although this one followed the prototype of the first a bit too closely imho- I didn't walk away hating this one like I did the first one... somehow the better quality of all the technical aspects of the film let me cut them some slack for repetitive torture-porn.

I actually enjoyed the second one better than the first... but thats not really saying much. I'm not jumping for joy over either.

The second one at least had some misdirection that kept you on your toes.

Neither were gory or sadistic enough to fulfill the awesomeness of the premise of these movies. If I'm going to see a movie about people being tortured to death for money... I want to see some god damned brutal torture scenes that burn into my brain.

And I agree with BA 100%, these bitches were all annoying CUNTS. I was so happy when blood started draining, cause these broads just plain sucked at life.

Why didn't they show Mr. Nice guy gone psycho (forgot his name) kill the stupid blond broad? I know she was basically dead already, but at least gimme a montage of some sort...

The ripping off of the cocknballs was pretty disgusting, even though it was a really poorly done special effect.

That is a good point. The only thing good about this movie was it kind of got you to see into the mind of the killers.

definetly better than the first. i like how it picks right up where the 1st left off.
eli roth is a good director n' good performances from the cast, especially from the chick who played loma during the bath scene, that was intense! main thing i didnt like is how it ended so abruptly.

This movie is completely mediocre. Calling it just plain shitty would place it on the same level as most of the horror movies that come out. The cinematography was good, the non-speaking roles were well-played, the organization aspect of the hunting club was interesting and the bloodbath scene was good.

Everything else was just silly. Not very shocking, but then again it was produced for mass consumption and almost no one is very discerning with regard to entertainment. They are easy to predict, so it is easy to decide what buttons to press. And that's why you have movies like Hostel 2.
