film: hide and seek

came out this week and could possibly be a frightening movie, but i dont have my hopes up too high for that one to be true
i have heard it described as being a great horror flick... and some not so good comments too. seems divided pretty well.


a small girl and her father move after the death (suicide) of the mother. the girl makes up a friend to play with, charlie. but charlie is much more than he seems and emily starts having some gruesome habits.

so, anyone that sees it first... is it frightening? haunting? scary at all?

I thought it was a pretty formulaic movie. There were far less scary moments than I was expecting, and certainly not enough gore to earn an R rating. My one major problem was that some dialog early on in the film gave away the ending-- kindof killed the suspense for me. Aside from that, I thought it was alright. The acting was good, and I was happy to see Elisabeth Shue again.

What's up with Deniro suddenly playing in all these horror movies??

This is his 2nd horror movie in less than a year.
Most horror movies never have a celebrity as big as "Deniro". I personally think it ruins the genre.
Its just like Arnold Shwartznegger playing in comedy movies.

Just saw this. One thing I will say is that DeNiro does a good job with these kind of roles. Overall, I would say it's worth renting, but you don't need to rush to the theater for this one...

The only thing that made any kind of positive impact in this film for me was the little girl. She was heaps creepy!!! I would like to see her in more serious roles again as she seems really talented.

Other than that. Bah....the twist wasn't really any great shock...

the twist has been done by hollywood many times, same shit different story. they made this movie out to be some real scary movie but little did i know.....1/5
