Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle

I didn't think this movie was going to be any good - but everyones been giving it the best scores. On IMDB it got 8/10 stars from 400 people reviewing it and thats pretty damn good for a stoner comedy.

It's got the indian guy from Van Wilder:Party Liason in it, also.

Two twenty-something stoner roommates -- one a Korean American investment banker; the other an Indian American medical school candidate -- go through a life changing journey, as they spend a night roaming the state of New Jersey in search of White Castle hamburgers.

just seen this now, must say, they have an awesome cameo in the movie of Doogie Howser as himself - he's off his face and snorting lines off strippers backs..

pretty funny movie in most parts, but similar to other stoner movies (Dude, wheres my car?) etc

Nothing spectacular, but it was funny. The two lead actors both turned in some very good work. The other characters are funny too, particularly the cops and the tow truck guy. Overall, it was better than I expected, and one of the better stoner movies I've seen recently. If you're a fan of these sort of movies, you most likely won't be dissapointed.

this movie was hilarious. totally not what i was expecting. and i have been craving the castle for days now.

I loved the reference in the movie made by Kumar about the hippie guy,

"what are the girls gonna do? go upto your room and listen to Phish records? go save a tree or something"

I really enjoyed this movie, and I feel it could definately take a post next to Half-Baked as one of the greatest stoner movies ever. I think I loved it so much because the themes of the movie really hit home for me and a lot of stoners, as here in the SFV we always get commercials for these awesome burger places like Sonics, but the closest locations are like 45 minutes away. Stoner mission!
We also used to have Whitecastles on the west coast, but I think they all migrated back home. Also the central theme of standing up for yourself and reaching for your goals is another thing I have issues with, but that nonsense is for a different thread ;)

Harold and Kumar go to White Castle

Just wanted to hear some people's thoughts on the film. All I knew about it before watching it was what I had seen on a short previw on tv. A friend said he thought it was good so I saw it this weekend.

IMO it was hilarious... I was cracking up even within the first 5 minutes. It's been a while it seems since a real stoner movie has come out into the mainstream.

Anyway, what are your opinions on the film?

This movie was fucking great!!! Especially the bit where they go riding the cheetah...LOL

I can't wait to watch it when i'm stoned.

It gets the 5 thumbs up from me.

^that was my favorite part of the movie... Come on... Getting baked with a cheetah, what the fuck. How can you not love that.

MODS: sorry about making a new thread, I searched the forum for "kumar" and didn't get any results. (??)

EDIT: Thanks for the wonderful article FF! And what did you think of it alasdarim? Did you see it? How can you post in the thread without offering your opinion? :(

This movie was hilarious!! I just started watching it with my brother the other night figuring I'd catch five minutes and then head to bed since I had to be up uber-early for work the next day.....but I could only pull myself away after the cheetah. A definite must-see! Been a long time since I laughed sooooo many times consecutively.

I'd like to note that I disagree with the author when he siad that he thought the movie was homophobic. I didn't get that at all. Unless you call this homophobic:

Kumar is seen licking harolds face, as he is passed out and the dream sequence has ended.

Harold: What the hell are you doing? *standing up and slightly freaking out*
Kumar: You were passed out for over half an hour, so I figured if I did some gay shit maybe you would wake up.

That part really made me laugh hard.
