Film:Halloween(Rob Zombie)

Anyone else looking forward to this? I hated House of 1000 Corpses, but I loved The Devil's Rejects. Normally,I hate the idea of remakes, but I'm very interested to see how Rob Zombie handles this. He's very grounded in 70's horror and has a lot of respect for the genre.

I have faith in Rob Zombie. I'm looking forward to this and hoping it's going to be as good as I think it will!

watched the 'workprint' started off well showing the kid behind the mask then went downhill quick. some parts were unbelievable n' at times laughable. nothing horrifying, predictable ending n' just flat out boring after the first half.

regardless to what anyone says, i still gonna see it and ill probably love it... i enjoy Rob Zombie's movies..

the devil's rejects was alot better than house of a thousand corpse's. hope next film will be just as good. has he got any other films than those three and what are they? pm me the titles if theres more:)

what also helps is that it is not a(nother) sequel but a retelling of the original story.
i feel zombie transforms his visions well onto the screen. i like his imagery and angles. but really as hot as his daughter is i dont feel like seeing her in another film so i hope she isnt anywhere near this one.

I just got back from seeing it, and I was very disappointed in the end result. In the beginning, they couldn't decide whether Michael was evil because of his environment or that he was simply born evil. This movie strayed so far away form the original, the could have named the main character Horace and it would have easily been a movie that had nothing to do with the original. 60% of the movie involved Michael dragging victims screaming across the floor. The beginning scenes gave absolutely no insight as to what made Michael evil. My worst complaint? The movie was so boring! A weak 2 stars out of 5.

watvhed the workprint, thought it was pretty good. def an interesting take on the classic, but ive always liked those cheezy horror movies, so i liked it just for the nostalgic value.

rob zombie's love for horror is complete and authentic. i love all the original halloween movies, and if anyone else was directing a remake, i'd be against it... but being that rob zombie's hands and mind are all over this, then i have faith that it must be pretty decent. i saw an interview with him regarding this movie, and he said that this one focuses more on the development of the michael myers character. the first 1/3 is him as a child (his mother is played by rob's slutty, annoying wife)... the next 1/3 is him in the psych hospital, and the last 1/3 takes place on halloween, the portion which was the focus of the original.

i will be watching this. i'll post my reviews then.

b/c the explaining of his past, it turns the movie into more of a psychological thriller, rather than a slasher flick.

Spoilers:
NSFW:

When the kid puts on the mask for the first time and walks around killing people, it's hysterical. There's nothing remotely scary about it. It's like someone ripped a midget off the set of wizard of oz and dropped them in a horror flick.

I think they could've foced more on the torment of the child a bit more. Rob Zombie didnt do an excellent job capturing this. He, imo, to create the monster that Michael Myers grew to be.. would have to be a lot worse off than a cursing low life for his slut mom's boyfriend..and a neglectant sibling. Maybe not, but i think they could've made his home life a bit more fucked up.

The camera angles and just the general way Zombie shoots videos was up to par here as well and i quite enjoyed it.. I did not enjoy the typical use of actors for this flick. At least 3 actors were from his previous two films. None did a bad job, but it just gets a little tiring.

I like the psychologist in the original far far far more than i did in this one as well. He was just far too clean cut and far too full of himself. He turned it from a slasher flick to a psychological thriller, yet the psychologist kept speaking in these absolutes; "He is pure evil.." .. It was just over simplistic, something that fit well with the original, but not so much in Zombie's re-make.

That being said, i thoroughly enjoyed it and thought it was a fun film. Like to be expected of zombie.. it wasn't yet another horror film toned down for pg-13 ratings in order to draw a bigger audience. It was bloody, it was violent.. like it should be. I'm so glad there's a handful of directors out there that tell focus groups to suck a fuck in this regard.

The kid did an excellent job of playing the part needed as well. I think it was well done, but could've been better. Overall i liked it, 3 stars.

i have the wp version of the halloween movie that was leaked.(wp version has a rape scene in it which was cut from theatrical version) I think it was a good film.

this was my first Rob Zombie flick. i'm not sure what to think of it yet. the gore and the violence in the movie is kind of shocking when compared to more typical horror movies. there is enough camp and humor to keep things interesting. the stepdad in the beginning is so over-the-top and utterly deplorable that it's hard not to giggle. the truck stop guy was funny too. at the very least, the movie is sincere and unfiltered in most respects. a feel good flick? i think not. :)

this was the most interesting part. some things later in the film don't seem entirely consistent with the MM characterization, though.

This was way better than the original Halloween. I liked Rob Zombie's other movies better, but it was still really good.

Banquo, the scenes in the beginning made me wonder what Mr. Zombie's home life is like. I feel like he wrote dialogue based on his own personal experience, haha. The mother is his wife IRL after all.

Better than the original? Have you even seen John Carpenter's version? That movie is a classic and set the standard for countless horror movies to come. Rob Zombie's Halloween didn't even come close to touching the original. The first half of the movie was so different from the original,it could have been a different movie entirely. The second half was so boring and redundant,my girlfriend and I just wanted to walk out. This movie was a dismal mess. I can't believe you would say that this version was better than the original.

lets compare reviews from horror websites, and general movie review sites (imdb, rotten tomatoes)

new halloween:
2 out 5
1.5 out of 5
21% out of 100%
6.4 out of 10
0 out of 5

original halloween
5 out of 5
89% out of 100%
7.9 out of 10

the general consensus seems to be the original is far superior to the new remake.

i understand we are all entitled to our own opinion. but id really like to hear some reasons coolio to back up your statement that the new one is "WAY" better than the origonal.
