the dreamy sequence which occurs during the dance club scene is surely meant to exemplify feelings on mdma?

you missed my question mark, i was being sarcastic. sorry, i should have inserted one of these 8) into my last post. i was just responding to criticism

doesn't deserve 5 stars, I gave it 2 because it references jungle music in the car at the start of the movie.

(I dont like dnb or jungle but, found it amusing anyway)

??? i see nothing wrong with my sense of humour, however for the benefit of other users i may need to remember to include more smilies in future sarcastic posts.

what i do see as wrong is other members being way too eager to criticize post responses without first reading the source post through properly (i am not referring to you cravNbeets).

i am referring to the criticism i received after recommending JBizzle rent human traffic after he/she claimed to have not seen a better depiction of the "rave/X scene than Groove", after which i was told twice that no rave scene was featured in human traffic when it could have been assumed that i was referring to the latter of JBizzle's statement, "X scene", which indeed i was. anyway, i am certain that JBizzle meant "scene" as in clique, subculture, rather than an actual scene in a film.

mods: sorry for heading off topic.

i gave it 3 cuz, despite the inaccuracy, it was entertaining. like when that dudes brother wrote "freak" on that goofy candy raver guy's arm. although i was under the impression that this kinda "break into some warehouse" rave thing died in the 90's.

Two stars. I liked the music, but felt that I had to be a raver to really get anything out of it (and I'm definitely not). The characters really didn't do much for me; it's like one long vignette.

i would say that i'm right in the middle. it really did sort of capture the flavor of the times. the fact that digweed was in it didn't bother me. i didn't think of him as being superstar dj digweed flying in from wherever to save the day, but instead being some headliner these kids really wanted to play their party when it all came together for them.

although the acting is bad, and the gay scene was a bit over the top, I thought the ecstasy portrayal was pretty damn good.

And yes, Digweed would never play at a party like that, but I think the makers of the film were also trying to get people familiar with some of the "known dj's" around.

Someone who knows nothing about raves or techno music could've seen his part (Heaven Sent) in the flick and because of his set gone out and bought his CD at Best Buy.

I have to admit I was kinda new to it all at the time and I knew/liked Digweed after that movie. I never heard of him before that.

And I know ALOT of people who went and bought Heaven Sent after that movie.

2 stars.

at least Groove was better then A Midsummer Night's Rave ... now that was a total piece of fucking shit! I caught it on TV 2 monthes ago at night ... omg was it ever horrible! The production company that bank rolled this film needs to have their balls placed in a vice grips.

2 ** stars for Groove. It at least entertained me :\ even though it def was lame

if film makers limited themselves to portraying things which would happen in real life, the world of movie going would be, to me, a lot less interesting that it is now.

that said, i've always been a big believer in the "fact is stranger than fiction" school of thought and occasionally, superstar international djs show up in places where you would least expect to see them (see my gallery if you want proof :) )

i'll have to watch this again. i seem to recall that Human Traffic is the better movie, and even watching that again makes me squirm. however, Human Traffic is decidely more British in the scene it covers and Groove is obviously American. i'm not saying that one country makes better movies than the other, just that the partygoing experience between the countries is very different (imo) and that it might be difficult to compare the two films if only for that fact. hopefully, someday somebody will make a really really great movie about the scene. until then, it'll be these two and a handful of others.

I remember seeing this back in 2000. It was entertaining although some of the acting was a little poor. The whole underground/illegal party scene was long dead in my area by the time the film was released.

I saw Human Traffic around the same time and much prefer the British take on night life. It deals with a wider scope of drugs, issues and scenarios than does Groove.

i really liked this film. although the rave scene is a bit blah, i think the storyline is good, and i love the ending when hes driving.
this film makes me happy :)
