with a cast of Elijah Wood and Claire Forlani this movie is about football hooliganism in England and it is so much better than the previous hooligan orientated movies according to IMDb and all other review sites.

film: green street hooligans.

i was surprised to search this film on here and find absolutely NOTHING.

has anyone seen this movie? it takes place in the UK and follows around the leader of the west ham united firm. anyone who doesnt know what im talking should know at least these two things:

a.) west ham united is a football team. (aka... soccer for you bloody yanks!)
b.) a firm is a devoted group of fans (similar to a gang) who will do anything to preserve the integrity of their football team (and more-so their firm).

::: tiny tiny spoiler at the beginning of this following paragraph, but you find this out within the first 10 minutes of the film anyways:::

matt buckner (elijah wood) is a harvard journalism major who is kicked out of school for possession of drugs. sadly the drugs werent his, but his roommates, who happens to be the son of a VERY prestigious elected official. he decides to take off and head across the pond to see his sister in england. she's got a husband and a son who she loves! steve (shannon buckner's husband) had a romantic evening planned already though and asks his brother pete (the leader of the GSE 'green street elite' aka the west ham united football firm) to take matt along. he absolutely does NOT like the idea of bringing a yank to the match and tries to intimidate him and send him on his way. matts a stubborn bastard though and refuses despite the obvious fear and intimidation that he feels at this time. the movie basically follows the group around and shows what life as a member of a violent firm is all about which is more about honor and backing your mates than anything.

Football Factory revisited. Once you've seen one, you've seen them all, imo. Truth be told, I enjoyed this one no less. Must be that caveman, bloodthirsty Y chromosome, or something.

I thought this movie was terrible. I found myself thinking "i just don't care" towards the end. All the characters and drama felt manufactured, and I just couldnt take it seriously. Even the fight scenes were boring.

this has languished at the bottom of my netflix queue for a while out of fears that elijah wood does not get beat up more than once.

i kept hoping he would really get beaten, but it doesnt happen. he's just annoying and whiny the whole time. Definately not convincing as a hooligan.

though you have to remember, he's not a hooligan, he's yank taken under the wing of a hooligan, he plays a good yank learned the hard streets of the football firm ways.

crap, along with football factory it's an embarressment to football yob culture films, check out gary oldman in "the firm" or "id"

It's a good film but the accents are dodgy as fuck. Just get some real cockneys for god sake.

TLM, I agree, The Firm was the better of the lot. Can't remember if I saw ID though. I think I have, but not so sure.

Watched it bonged out of my head with a mate knowing fuck all about it and really enjoyed it. Seen it since and it wasnt great but better than Football Factory.

It's a so-so movie. Watch it on a rainy day.
As has been said, Wood, like much of the cast, is too clean cut and well spoken to be convincing hooligans. The plot doesn't hold up to much scrutiny. However, The Stone Roses feature prominently in the soundtrack which is a plus.
