i just noticed that there was two anchorman threads, so i've merged the two (both had a significant amount of replies). hopefully the order hasn't been buggered up too much in the meantime :\

I saw thi last night with my girlfriend and I must say, I am quite disappointed. Overall, I just didnt think it was not that funny. You could tell a lot of it is improv.

I saw this last night and laughed my ass off for almost the entire film. Steve Carrell's character (Brick) was absolutely fucking hilarious. 95% of his lines I laughed so hard at. Totally zainy and off the wall movie... I loved every minute of it.
****SPOILERS BELOW****

The Newsman's Brawl was fucking hilarious, especially when they were recapping afterwards...

"I threw a trident at someones heart! There were horses and a man on fire!!"

Peteresko: That scene was the best scene in the movie, again, Steve Carrell's character was kick ass in that scene.

"I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT WE ARE YELLING ABOUT!!"

"Brick, how'd you get a hand grenade?"

...

"My stomach itches."

--This movie was good, but not nearly as good as many of this groups previous movies. If it wasn't for Brick, I probably wouldn't have liked this movie at all. However, any time the movie began to lag and the laughs began to cease, Brick would have some hilarious one-liner. Brick gets 5 stars. The rest of the cast gets 2 or 3.

This burrito is filling.

about 50% of this movie almost killed me with laughter

towards the end jokes started failing. i thought some jokes/themes were repeated just ONE too many times. some were outright lame.

newsman's brawl was definitely the turning point in my mind (mostly hilarious -> mostly sucking ass)

i understand that the storyline was supposed to be over the top and crazy, but it also seemed sloppy and ill conceived.

too many worthless cameos. found it annoying after a while.

the redeeming factor, of course, is will ferrell, who i think is a comedic genius and did not dissapoint. he has many, many awesome random one liners and great delivery. i like when he 'morrison'-s out at the end. MILK WAS A BAD CHOICE!!!

it's worth seeing.

weak, jokes were forced and disjointed... one of those situations where i could tell "why" it's supposed to be funny, but since there was no fluid writing there was no laughter.

OMG this might be the worst movie I've ever seen, or one of the top 3 at least. The first 15 minutes of a movie is supposed to entice you and make you want more, instead, it pissed me off and I was furious I spent $4.05 on it. So I gave it the benefit of the doubt and watched the whole thing to see if it ever "got better."

Nope.

Will Ferrel just didn't have it in this movie, not like he had in Elf or Old School. He's usually very funny and easy to laugh at, but I think he was trying too hard in this one. The jokes were redundant and stale, and were beat into you skull over and over and over....Christina Applegate has about as much pizazz as a bag of Lay's potato chips. :(

*sigh* amatuer,

I think all of Ferrels movies are "forced" jokes and barely any of them are funny.

I think Will's movies appeals to fans of "FRIENDS" and shows like that.

not saying I didn't love his comedic genius in SNL though!

This movie doesn't take itself seriously from the start, and the lighthearted and extreme stupidness makes it work out for more than a few laughs. thumbs up!

"The human torch was denied a bank loan"

"The arsonist had oddly shaped feet"

By the beard of Zeus! I didn't even realize there was a film board! I am getting that feeling inside that i get when i drink a glass of scotch just from being in the TV board, it makes me want to report the news again.

Those in this thread who had negative things to say about me - Knights of Columbus, that hurts! I will smash your faces into a car windshield, and then take your mothers out for a nice seafood dinner and never call her again. I'm a man who discovered the wheel and built the Eiffel Tower out of metal and braun. That's what kind of man I am. And for the ladies who didn't find me irresistible, remember: Your just a woman with a brain a third the size of us men. It's science.

Excuse me while i get ready to report the news...How now brown cow. How now, brown cow. How now brown cow.
