How many of you guys have seen this awesome film? Apparently it came out this past summer in the States with a limited release and is coming to DVD on Feb 2. I had never heard of it until I saw ads posted all over London for it. It's won a few awards including the Sundance Grand Jury Prize and the Cannes Film Festival Fiprescia Award.

I had the opportunity to watch it on the flight back and must say it is really quality. Paul Giamatti stars as Harvey Pekar and does a fantastic job. You can sense that he is spot on with his acting because the real Harvey Pekar is actually in the movie, too! Giamatti is about the only "big" Hollywood actor in it (or at least, the only one I recognized), but the rest of the cast is really good, too.

All I can say is rent it or buy it when it comes out, you won't be disappointed

I loved it. Saw it in London a couple of weeks ago (just released here). It was very funny but also had some depth to it, and it was imaginitively presented, with the real Harvey Pekar making occasional appearances and doing voiceover. And just like Pekar’s comics, it’s a nice antidote to overblown Hollywood hype movies and big budget special effects films.

I loved Pekar's best friend who was "proud to be a nerd." The actor doing the friend seemed spot-on with the voice when compared to the real guy. I vaguely remember the Spring Break dork on MTV when I was a kid, but feel really bad for him after watching the movie.

harvey and wife were at a screening i attended. interesting q&a ensued as far as i can recall.
