filler used with cannabis?

So I was at a little party last night and we were passing around joints, and the weed I usually have is straight or mixed with a little bit of tobacco, but it is always harsh and unpleasant tasting.

but this J that someone else rolled with their own weed tasted like incense basically and was really smooth.

Now could this be strain or is there a filler such as damiana that makes weed taste more bareable

and im pretty sure it wouldnt be kronic or a synthetic cannibinoid

so what could it be

None have us have any idea what it could have possibly been, if you're that curious your best bet would be to ask the people you were with/people who know the kid who rolled/that kid himself.
