Field testing DMT

Hello

I'm interested if there is any testing methods that can point to DMT. I've seen some recently and while I know nobody can tell me for sure, I've never seen it genuinely except for my own extractions and would like to verify it somewhat...as good as possible short of a GCMS.

Maybe marquis reagent test, or other chemical tests possibly have any definable results? Any ideas?

DMT is pretty identifiable, at least more than most powders.

Appearance can range between a brown goo to white crystals, varies with extraction/purification.

The smell is pretty undeniable for what it is.

If you did an extraction, and your left with crystals, congratulations in that you probably did it right.

If you want to post a decent resolution picture of your results, we can probably verify that you did it right.

DMT skipping the defat step, you will get a goo that has DMT and plant gunk in it.
DMT if you did the defat, usual results are something along the lines of orange crystals.
DMT with defat + slow recrystalization in naptha = lighter colored-white crystals.

Your mileage may vary, its good to know the chemistry if only to understand what is happening.

But yea, im not sure how DMT would react to marquis.... It would react, whether or not the results are productive I have no idea.

Set 4: Tryptamines

Image taken 30 minutes after experiment, but no changes after the first minute or so except where noted. Fizzing noted for all chemicals tested as the salt.


DMT
Marquis - yellow
Mecke - Brown, fades to red over time.
Mandellin - yellow

...

Key Points:
These reagents are sufficient for detecting tryptamines.
These reagents are sufficient for narrowing the range of possible tryptamines, but not for positive identification.
Mecke turns reddish brown in the presence of 5-MeO-T's, and brown in the presence of 4-HO/4-AcO-T's.
These reagents are not sufficient to detect 4-MeO-PCP.
