Are there any upcoming events like big raves or multiple-days festivals that shouldn't be missed in the Los Angeles area this year? (Summer, Fall, Winter '10)

you just missed coachella which was this past weekend and arguably the best festival in southern california.

Joshua Tree Music Festival is great if you like live music and neo-hippies.
L.I.B.
Electric Daisy Carnival (quality varies year to year)

I am not too keen on urban massives. Google "so cal raves".

lightning in a bottle is an awesome festival. i didn't go to last year's (there was one that was canceled - last year or the year before?) but i went whatever the previous year was and it was the best party i attended all summer.

i want to say the festival was a bit farther north - santa barbara i think - so you get all the hotties of socal there without the shitty attitudes ;)

when i first heard there was no amplified sound after dark i thought i was going to be a little bit weak, but the vibe there was stellar. it was kind of like burning man but with trees. there was also no shortage of environmentally sensitive information and vendors.

here's the website: lightning in a bottle

hmmm... based on that i guess it's in irvine this year? that discounts my glowing review of the culture and campsite, but it's probably still dope.

Yeah what kind of festival are you looking for? I follow that sort of thing... And I agree, I got over the "massive" raves a long time ago. I prefer parties at 500 people and under. Hard to find these days, of course. Let me know if any of you have any tips!
