Festivals 2014

I'm probably in the minority thinking this but no spirits sounds like a great policy to me. Alcohol causes a lot of casualties and these cause organisers a lot of hassle. Spirits are by far the worst for people overstepping their limits.

Of course that's just in theory, if the drug policies could be more rational it probably wouldn't be an issue. But of course it is because prohibition never works.

I went last year and loved it but its mostly psytrance/dub/reggae vibes so expect hippies! its a small family friendly festival with kids and dogs running about but yet it didnt feel inappropriate to be openly chuffing a big doob. In saying that though its the sort of place you can do as you wish along as your not being a dick or annoying people, just simple mutual respect I suppose.
 
So parklife took piss poor organisation to the extreme yesterday. Some peoples tickets didnt scan so they had to go to the box office to sort it which was only staffed by 2 people, took some people 5+ hours to get in.

2 people got stabbed. Im hearing a few things about security being racist, a group of black blokes had their tickets taken off them because they looked 'dodgy' and another had his ticket taken but was told he would be let in if he paid 80 quid. Mental.

Luckily i didnt have any problems at all but some people must be fucking furious. I only really go as its local, people travelling up from london and stuff must be nuts.
 
I just joined the site, so apologies if I'm doing this wrong but anyone going to Electrobeach in Port-Barcarès, France or Sziget in Budapest?
 
My friend forgot to print his ticket so we had to go to the box office. The scanner system wasnt working so thousands of people got sent to THREE workers in a little portacabim which led to lots of pushing. The police and security then closed it "until people stopped pushing" which obv had absolutely no effect. Got in after about 2 hours, was a nightmare. Nothing like that happened last year.

I also think i saw the guy who got "stabbed", it looked like a slash not a stab over his right eye. Was a deep bad cut and he was a big bloke dont wanna see the guy who did it, initially i assumed he had been glassed. I still had a great time though haha
 
aye a lad got stabbed and his mate got bottled, was by a bunch of scousers, fuck going when its got an atmosphere like that, list of cunts last year was bad enough I think its just got worse.

Lucky it still went ahead, as PTCH knows when Bloc festival (last year??) went tits up, well the ticketing system went down, the gates got rushed and then they just closed the 2 day thing all together, about a few hours in.
 
Thats what I immediately thought of when I heard about the ticketing thing before I even arrived at Heaton Park. Only took about 15 minutes to get in, I think by that stage they had fully clocked what was going on and sent everyone to the box office to get sorted. A security guy told me the VIP entrance was flooded in the morning so they couldnt even use that one which meant even more people using the normal entrances.

Sod getting a VIP ticket, you get slightly less queues at the toilets and get in a little bit quicker(not even guaranteed). Well worth an extra 50 quid or whatever it is 8(

What other group would it be?

Amsterdam Open Air was great. 27 degrees each day, really nice cool vibe, minimal queue to get in and despite having my wallet searched and my joints taken off me, plenty of buzzing Dutchies (and I suppose a couple of Englanders also) in the main site. 2 days with 3 nights camping for £75, I know where I'm going festivalling next year already.

I normally go to festivals for a dose of House and Techno but I've been to a few one night events at this location and it's cool as fuck.
Only know about 3 of the acts playing but it's an awesome environment so I'm expecting a belter of a weekend. (including lots of drugs of course)

I haven't, no. There used to be this other much smaller festival on the same day that I preferred.
Expect a lot of deephouse and everybody off their titts on mdma. It's fairly massive too, but the location of the festival is pretty nice.
 
I think that Kelburn Garden Party is meant to be more family orientated compared to the Psychedelic Forest events they do. The Forest events are quality though, brilliant set up to get tripping. A few mates are working at the Garden Party, considering going up on the Saturday night for a sesh in the campsite if I can be bothered as its not to far from where I stay, the campsite was some laugh at the Forest Disco last month.
 
going to nowhere festival in spain on 8th july
its in the north of spain, closest city is zaragoza and it has a no commerce / burning man ethos. last year was amazing

maybe electric picnic too but dunno yet

would love to get over to outlook in croatia or sun and bass in sardinia - both on in early september but not looking likely due to short notice

i like to go to fests last minute too so there may be a few more random ones in there i hope..
 
Oooh, I've heard that Nowhere Fest is meant to be amazing, yeah.

Anyone heading to Xstatic Fest in the midlands tomorrow, then?
