Festivals 2011

Im also going to global. Why does the saturday attract dickheads? I havent been for years so not sure what the vibe is like. I heard about the sniffer dogs, im still trying to decide the best way of getting what i want in there. Are police allowed in or are they just on the gate?

no idea just what i heard that saturday has a lot of aggressive deush bags on day tickets on a few of the forums.

I think the dogs are just inside the gates, my plan is to leave my gear in the car untill night time, go and collect my "sleeping bag" when the dogs have gone home and then bring the goodies through. This way you know what security your up against, weather there are dogs and just wait to and easy point.

Are sniffer dogs trained on k?

It's quite a bit busier on Sat cos of the day tickets so I guess it's a numbers thing.
I'm sure I've seen cops wandering around but have deffo seen undercover types around the camping area too...

Glowing aaron - spot on...

It's always worse at the start when they open the gates but later on in the afternoon it's a bit more 'normal festival' like but you still end up walking past / between cops when re-entering (or I did Fri afternoon @ the VIP entrance!).

Dunno bout the dogs & K but have a read of http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/showthread.php?t=279411

They also have undercovers in & about the car parking too :|

I've been the past 3 years & it's gotten harder to get stuff in - a (female) mate of mine was made to squat over a mirror (in a police marquee) 'cos a dog sat next to her - she was carrying nothing but was majorly fucked off as you can imagine 8o

Thats the last thing people want, police hanging around the tents and car parking. Puts a real downer on it all as you cant relax if you have got stuff on you.

Im gonna be putting my mandy inside at least three snap bags, then put it inside some hair gel. Very unlikely it will be detected. Will be getting a coach will have to walk in with all my belongings on me. Not sure if they can smell K, i think they are mainly trained on the scent of weed and coke.

i think sometimes the dogs are there mainly to scare people. a friend of mine walked straight past them with a bag of pills in his pocket and they didnt notice anything... but still better safe than sorry

^Sniffer dogs don't really sniff drugs anyway, they just respond to the cues of their handlers:
The experimental searches took places in the rooms of a church, and each team of dog and human had five minutes allocated to each of the eight searches. Before the searches, the handlers were informed that some of the search areas might contain up to three target scents, and also that in two cases those scents would be marked by pieces of red paper.

What the handlers were not told was that two of the targets contained decoy scents, in the form of unwrapped, hidden sausages, to encourage the dogs’ interest in a false location. Moreover, none of the search areas contained the scents of either drugs or explosives. Any “detections” made by the teams thus had to be false. Recorders, who were blind to the study, noted where handlers indicated that their dogs had raised alerts.

The findings, which Dr Lit reports in Animal Cognition, reveal that of 144 searches, only 21 were clean (no alerts). All the others raised one alert or more. In total, the teams raised 225 alerts, all of them false. While the sheer number of false alerts struck Dr Lit as fascinating, it was where they took place that was of greatest interest.

When handlers could see a red piece of paper, allegedly marking a location of interest, they were much more likely to say that their dogs signalled an alert. Indeed, in the two rooms where red paper was present and sausages were not, 32 of a possible 36 alerts were raised. In the two where both red paper and sausages were present that figure was 30–not significantly different. In contrast, in search areas where a sausage was hidden but no red piece of paper was there for handlers to see, it was only 17.

Lots of sniffer dogs at Victoria station today, presuming cos of all the festival goers, loads of people in wellies with big backpacks about. I got really nervous (didnt have anything on me, was going to a conference haha) and one came up to me and hung around for a bit then the handler told me to walk on.. I hate it, I always feel guilty despite not having donw anything wrong!

^ like going through customs at airports - WTF do I feel guilty when I've done nothing wrong? :X

Yeah theres always a little voice going in my head "shit did i remember to take out the double ender because I know i left nail clippers in there"

yoyo

anybody goin to Paradise Festival in austria 7-10 july... its gonna be great one :)

Off to Glastonbury tomorrow! =D

Unless I decide I can't be bothered with the mud. Got my stuff packed, and wellies ready to go, shall see how I feel in the morning.

I only just realised that Primal Scream are on the line up though, so I might just HAVE to go.

Wish i was going to glasto

There should be no choosing about it, if you dont go you will regret :)

Decided against Glastonbury, can't be arsed with the blag. Some mates made it in yesterday without tickets, but another had a FAIL today, so we decided not to bother. Even if it is just a fiver to get there on the bus and an hour's journey, i'd rather have some fun in my own city. The weather down here just took a turn for the worst anyway.

How did they manage to get in ticketless? From what I hear they're fairly hot on things like that at glasto.

Last year some of my mates drove but I got the Boom-Bus from Bristol %)

Coaches are good, just don't oversleep and miss your one home resulting in a £100 taxi fare :|
