Yeh man, haha tbh I didn't know either.. typed it into google ;) :D

Rockness is the best festival in Scotland imo. Slam tent at TITP is banging aswell. Or Clunie Dam rave a few years ago, one of the best things I've been to. Loads of cool people, shithot location and loooots of MDMA %) =D

yeah met loads of mad people from all walks of life. its like a mini city that appears for a week in aug/september and then disappears once the man burns..

its not cheap to go there (presuming you make your way to the usa) you have to rent out a camper van for a week which is 500 euro-ish each person and then ticket is 200 euro-ish, you cant spend money there.. you bring everything you need for the week and trade, give away shit for free, receive shit for free..

i gave some guy called turkey neck enough for a spliff and then he crossed my palm with a handful of mushrooms, thats how it works out there :)


as for the cost, i would do anything in my power to go there again - even if it meant being totally skint for the whole year... i cannot recommend it highly enough. the whole experience can completely change your outlook on the world... (not a guarantee)


and yeah there are police there. not many, maybe theres some undercovers tool. i kept spliff smoking and drug consumption to inside the camper van and then ventured out.. to be honest, you could go there and not take any drugs and it would feel like you are completely tripping off your nut for the whole time.

Cheers for the info man. Sounds really cool! The concept of no money would make it better IMO. Less materialistic and money driven people about :)

Read up about it online, def seems like it would be cool. Would concider it one day, bit expensive for me now.

The ethics of it look great though. As do the videos. Lots of unual and interesting things going on that you won't see at any festivals here :)
 
Boom and Bangface Weekender are definites, then maybe Glade too unless I decide use my hols for an adventure somewhere afar. Would like to go to the Tribe of Frog summer gathering thingy as well :)

i went in 2008 and it was amazing. a life changing week of survival in one of the harshest landscapes in the world.

2008 was definitely (by a long shot) the most awesome (best choice of words) week of my life. much more than just a 'festival'.

Aye it looks wild. Dunno if I could hack it right enough. I've heard it can be a bit of a struggle to find the good music due to the size of the place, i guess that depends what you're in to. Looks like paradise for the goa/psy trance mob though lol. It's like Mad Max crossed with hippies.

Man, you make me want to cry, seriously. I've wanted desperately to go to burning man for a good few years but I can't get a visa for the US because I have a possesion charge...

its not even about the music but there is ample music there for literally every taste you can imagine and it doesnt stop, all day every day for a full week.... if the music gets too much you can easily go back to where youre camping or go to one of the chill out tents where loads of people just sleep and shit, they have all old hippy style chilled music and huge bean bags / couches etc, hard to describe

theres even a guide there that tells you where and when (in great detail) alot of the music events are happening (it also tells you where 'other' events are being held too...)

its simple to find your way around although the size of the place is absolutely massive

as for mad max, they even have a thunderdome there that you can go and fight someone in too

heres a clip from it, i climbed up on the top of the structure that you see in that video while absolutely fucked on mushrooms watching cunts kicking fuck out of eachother, i had a perfect ariel view and they had all this mad heavy metal music and loads of people standing around watching and cheering it on.. it was something else... video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwfcGMtvtN8

the place is just bonkers, all the craziest people in the world making their own city for a week.. i have been DIEING to go back since the day i left (although the shower i had in the hotel the day we left was one of the best feelings in the world...)

Yet to experience Mannheim, but Timewarp '08, @ the Maassilo in Rotterdam was jaw-dropping from start to finish. Enlightening in fact :D

Yas! Do they all hang off the sides giving it "TWO MEN ENTER ONE MAN LEAVES!" It would be worth going to for that alone. That looks fucking dynamite, I like how dude at the end appears to be scrapping a bird but he's getting stuck right in with big two handed swings.
 
just decided I'm going to go BLOC weekend as well, in March.. anyone know if Grandmaster Flash still has mad skillzz? :D
 
Glade & Waveform again for sure, I'd also like to go to sunrise, but it normally falls in perfectly within exam time =/.

I really liked the look of those pics from last year. Don't know if it was you or RA that posted them but looked perfect for a festival. See in the ruins of an old castle.. can't get much cooler than that =D
 
its an old castle ok=Ballinlough castle co Westmeath.
dont think there ruins.

of the 3 main festivals in Ireland imo it was the best.

@CaptC look into cheap flights and get your self over,it was about 90euro for a wend ticket last year.
im sure some Irish BLer would pick u and your kilo of drone up at the airport lol.
