To the medical profession: My dad is given Fentanyl in hospital for Breathlessness and not any pain.
As he encounters frequent episodes of Breathlessness, they increase the dosage from 30, to 40, 50, 60, 70 and now 80.
I expressed my disagreement to the doctors but they refuse to bulge and continue increasing.
I see him getting confused and not able to express himself as a result. And they attributed to lack of sleep.
Is this the right dosage and treatment approach? What should I do as the palliatric ward only treats symptoms and not root cause.

I am not in the medical profession but a quick search on Chat GPT says that this is actually very common in Palliative Care:

"When doctors use it
Most commonly in:

Advanced lung disease (like COPD)
Advanced heart failure
Cancer affecting the lungs
Palliative or hospice care (very common here)
It’s typically for chronic, severe breathlessness that doesn’t improve with standard treatments like inhalers or oxygen."
