Hello, I have been searching old posts on here for days and can't seem to find a answer for my problem. I take 30mg oxycodone for bt pain everyday and wear 25mcg fentanyl patch, changed every 72hrs. My tolerance is very high as I have RSD and have been on opiates for years for it. My problem is I am going into withdrawal every 48hrs or so and do not see my PM dr for a while. Is it safe to keep the old patch on while I am waiting for the new one to work? It can take up to 8 hrs for it to help my pain and I am in horrific withdrawal while I am waiting. The oxycodone (5mg prn 5max per day) does not help my pain when this happens. I am not wanting to get high in any way or abuse my medicine. (I'm just a boring old senior citizen) Just want better pain control and avoid any withdrawals until I get into see my dr for a med adjustment. I know that the patch does not work for 72hrs for most people, but I must wait to see dr to change it sooner. Can someone please help me? RSD is the highest rated chronic pain disease on the Mcgill pain scale (more painful than natural childbirth/loss of a digit) and I am in agony every 48hrs. Thank you so very much for reading and trying to help me. RSD/CRPS
