Hello everyone.

For the past 6 years i have been taking opiate medications for pain due to injuries. For about 4 months now I have been taking the Fentanyl 50 mcg/hr patch (however before that have taken oxy's, methadone, morphine, dilaudid, etc and now have ended up on fentanyl 50's with oxy IR 60mg/day for BT pain).

I am about to go into opiate withdrawal very soon (in about 12 hours i think), not sure when exactly which is why i am posting. I hope someone out there can provide me some info about jumping off of fentanyl and when their clonidine patch fully set in. Over the course of about a month, I've been cutting the mylan fentanyl patch from 50 mcg, 25, 12.5 to 6 mcg and now have jumped off.

I have read that the body continues to absorb the Fentanyl medication into the CNS system for about 7-10 hours after removal of the patch and then after that time, no more medication is felt. And that its half life is about 13-22 hours, however in an unusable form. Is that right? is the half life form of a medication non-active and would it at that point make me feel that all the medication is out of my body, even if there are non active forms (half-life forms) of it in me? I don't even know if i said that right.

Also, I have read different reviews regarding adderall usage while W/D from opiates especially while using clonidine. On paper, clonidine seems to do the opposite of adderall so i hope the two dont counter each other. Nonetheless, i have heard that fentanyl is a ************* to withdrawal from.

Advise would be great.

the half life of fent is something like 6 hours (apologies mods for inaccuracies.) these means that in 6 hours half of the fent you orgiingally ingested will still be inside you . . This is whyy opiates with long half lifes have proctracted withdrawlas
ou've down an excellet job in retrucing you dose, Well done,.
Fentanyl is hard but intense. The maine w/d should be over no longer than a week. compare that with methadone...
you cna do it,

buffalobillygoat,

its been 24 hours now since I've jumped off. Surprisingly, I do not feel that bad yet. after reading about the right things to have to jump off right, I tapered it down, got some scripted meds and otc meds for the side effects. however, I am anxious about the 3rd or 4th day since I heard that is when its most intense. being a former disabled veteran of the usmc, I have had been through w/d and detox centers before (I was kind of crazy back then) due to injuries (not just physical) and I really believe that opioids made my pain worse in general. my doctor was telling me about opioid induced hyperalgesia, which is when pain receptors become more sensitive due to long time opioid use and it made total sense. as I was tapering, the pain increased a great degree. however, it has lessened now. I don't even remember what it feels like to be non addicted anymore, but I know I had more fun back then. thanks for your support buffalobillygoat.

Comparably its an easy wd. One time I came off sucking on a 100 mcg patch a day plus 80mg oxy a day. That was fucking horrible. The 3 day hump was a 10 day hump.

Oh god, reading my posts there (under the influence of xanax) makes me realise how fucked up I must have been the last couple of weeks. Never taking that drug ever again.

SOLID EFFORT OP.

Thanks.
I tapered down from 50 mcg duragesic to about 6 mcg. then I put the clonidine patch on. Two days later on Friday the 23rd, I took the F patch off. By Sunday, I knew the drug was out of my system as the pain was F'ed the F up in my back. Today is 9 days since I put the clonidine on (original dose was 0.2), 7 days since I took the F patch off, and two days since I decreased the clonidine from 0.2 to 0.1. The physical symptoms are being controlled by the clonidine, however the pain and lethargy are still present and I hate them. I take ibuprofen 800, muscle relaxer for the pain. and have started drinking coffee again in the AM's for energy (just started today with coffee).

When I was taking the fentanyl, I never got high, it just took the pain away. I did not abuse it in anyway as I had oxy's when prescribed. 80's x 4-5 day at times with oxy IR 15's about 8x a day. When I was switched from oxy to F, I no longer got high, coz this new doc would not refill anything early.. So, since I never got high from the F's, I suppose that W/D's should be a little easier. I have been exercising and walking recently, trying to boost my endorphins naturally but the F'ing F's F with my energy levels. When should I expect to feel any better? any advise would be great.

Clonidine withdrawal can be very dangerous, resulting in hypertensive crisis that could be damaging or fatal. You don't want to quit that all at once. I know that is not a problem you are dealing with now, but you need to be aware of it if or when you quit. I am assuming you are using it to ease the fentanyl withdrawal symptoms as it is sometimes used for opiate withdrawal. If you are on it for blood pressure or some long term medical problem, that probably is not relevent.

I have found that loperamide (Immodium AD) helps with opiate withdrawal but you need like 8 pills to do any good. If you try that, quit if constipation becomes a problem. Low dose DXM, around 90mg (too low to be psychoactive) can also help.
