Opioids Fentanyl Buccal Absorption and Dosage

A question on fentanyl dosage.

I have been keeping little pieces of duragesic fentanyl patches against my cheek. I will rub the adhesive around on my cheek and tongue and roll it around. I've been keeping them in for 20-30 minutes before spitting them out, but I've been saving them. How long does it take for all of the fentanyl in the patch to absorb? I have the peices measured out exactly.

If I did the math correct, and I did it many times, a 1cm x 1cm square of a 100mcg/hr (16.8 mg) duragesic fentanyl patch, taken bucally, should equal about 40mg of oxycodone, taken orally. I understand that different drugs will be metabolized more/less effectively in different people, and that tolerance has to be accounted for, but am I in the ballpark? It feels like less than that.

Let me rephrase. Is 400mcg of fentanyl, taken buccally, equivalent to about 40mg of oxycodone, taken orally?

I've tried that before.
After 20 min, they are done, esecially if you're rolling them around in your mouth.

Have you tried using mouthwash before sticking them in. Helps them absorb better & faster.

In my experience, about 15-20 mins. I would keep a little scrap of one in my mouth for an hour, but it is probably all gone before then, not really sure.

15 mins in my experience.

I mostly used the gel ones, duragesic and sandoz
Used to smoke it a lot too

But I used mylan patches buccally

i know in vodka they stay sticky. the fentanyl absorbs good in it tho.
