Benzos Feeling Dizzy Smoking Weed Hours After Taking Xanax

A few weeks ago I took 1mg of xanax (half a bar) two nights in a row, and both nights I smoked weed about 6 hours after taking the xanax. Both times instead of feeling a euphoric high, I began feeling dizzy, and couldn't really focus doing anything except going into bed. I figured that I was maybe just really tired those nights and the weed made me even more tired, but last night I again smoked weed 6+ hours after taking Xanax (this time 2mg, and as a note I am not prescribed xanax, it's purely recreational), and I got the exact same feeling. Is this common? I have never heard of this happening to anyone, but every time I have smoked weed after taking xanax, I feel very dizzy and can only focus on going to bed.

Sounds like you're dosing the xanax too high. Also, are you on any blood pressure medicine? Beta Blockers?

I actually personally dislike xanax for this very reason, it tends to just make me want to go to bed. Love me some Valium or Restoril though.

Yea that's too much xanax followed by weed. A lot of people pass out when smoking on doses of xanax like that.

Hmmm, I didn't realize that I was doing a lot of Xanax, my friend apparently does 6mg at a time with no tolerance but he was probably lying. And no, I'm not on any blood pressure medicine. The weird part though is that the Xanax doesn't make me overly sleepy, but once I smoke weed it makes me feel dizzy and as if I need to go to sleep.

^ Yeah, the problem is some people do Xanax as their DOC.

Meaning, they might be taking 6mg "without a tolerance" every other night.

I take like 1mg to chill out and smoke on.

EDIT: The prescribed dose is like 0.25mg with no tolerance, FYI.

Benzos are notorious for potentiating other drugs since they synergise with them. For example, a person may be able to drink 6 beers with no problem or take 1mg of xanax and be fine, but combined they may cause the person to black out. Another example is with opiates. A person may be able to take 80mg of oxycodone on it's own and get a nice high or 1mg of xanax on it's own and be good but combined they may cause sever respiratory depression leading to an overdose.

When I was abusing xanax I got up to taking 14mg at a time but after I stopped abusing them I found that I got about the same effects from 1mg of it, minus the horrible memory loss. It's way better in smaller doses when you still have control over yourself.

Tommyboy nailed it.

As soon as you combine benzos with any other drug, expect massive potentiation. Especially with alcohol and other depressants. I'm not suprised it causes you to get ultra-faded on cannabis too.
