Hey guys. I have a torture week! I've felt terrible for a few weeks I'm not an everyday user of opiates a few days a week for while now for cocodamol and solpadol but in the last 2 months I've had some dhc flung my way in work and I think that's where I've went wrong. My back is pretty sore in my physical job so I'd take two dhc a day most days in work. I only had a thought that the reason I've been feeling like the flu for a few weeks is because it's the 3 days I'm off work I'm going into w/d. I stopped cold turkey with everything I'm on day 8. Day 2-4 was horrendous and every day I've started feeling a little better. My appetite was shot and then it came back and shot again. Is that normal? And also is it normal to get a recurring fever on day 8?

Any help would be amazing :(

Not sure if this Is the kind of help you are looking for and I apologize if you already know all of this, but I had to look up cocodamol and dhc. I did find that in many countries both medicines are commonly compounded with acetaminophen. This can be a problem for people who take opiates as tolerance builds and more of the medicine is needed to achieve the same affect. This can lead to the ingestion of very dangerous amounts of the acetaminophen. Also sometimes people who are taking perhaps three different medications may be unaware that that all three have acetaminophen in the ,again leading to dangerous levels of the acetaminophen. Here in the United States the common opioid hydrocodone can contain 750 mg. per tablet. For a long time opiate user like myself 5 hydrocodone is just enough for me to feel the effects when I have no tolerance. With tolerance I can easily get into the 15 to 20 range . it is not recommended to consume more than 4000mg per day and dosages the 7000+ range can lead to serious liver damage. Consuming alchohol with acetaminophen also magnifies the liver damage. I do apologize if you already know all of if this , but ,it really bothers me that drug manufacturers ruin perfectly good medications by including this poisonous crap in it. It is possible to remove the acetaminophen by doing a simple cold water bath extraction. This is highly recommended if one getting into the 4 or 5000 mg range. As far as the rest of your questions I agree ,day the 2-4 day range of withdrawal is a bitch. And I do not feel like eating either. I don't generally get a fever and by day 8 I am starting to feel halfway normal again. The reason i responded with my acetaminophen rant is because I HAVe experienced acetaminophen overdose and the symptoms were flu like ,with sweating and vomiting etc

Hi Djbillza,

Yeah it's pretty common to feel awful in withdrawal, even from lower doses of opioids. I recommend you make a post over in the recovery support forums if you'd like some more help and support with this.

All the best,
CFC
