So a friend of mine ive known for years got clean last winter, moved away, knocked a chick up then moved back home... so i hit him up and we hung out everything was kool, went to a couple meetings together... then couple weeks ago we were hanging out and i was itching to go score but didnt have any wheels and knew he was clean so didnt wana ask him... anyways i was like hey before i ask ya, if you say no its all good i wont care but i was really wantin to go grab sumin and dont have a ride and before i could say anything he was like fuck yes lets do it... ive been thinkin about it sooo much and didnt wana say anything to ya cause i know youve been clean too...

anyways we go pick up and i run into a gas station to get a drink and he got the dudes the number (now once apon a time this would have pissed me off to no end but now i could care less)... so monday i hit the dude up since i havnt used in almost two weeks and he tells me that he got his number that day and his seen him damn near every day since... i hit my friend up today and he told me he was fukin up bad and he didnt say he was mad at me or anything... but honestly im kinda mad at myself for putting him in the situation to where he could find it again cause after moving away he lost all his numbers and couldnt score if he wanted too...

idk guess im not really asking anything just feel bad for fukin up my boys clean time cause he had over a year...

Don't beat yourself up too much man. He would have found the drugs on his own eventually if he was that eager to relapse. Old friends kicking it once sober is a dangerous game in my experience. If you used to use together... Then once you see each other again all those old memories and triggers come back. Then when one friend throws out the idea of relapse.. Its pretty frequent that the other person decides fuck it why not and joins them. I relapsed on meth this way.

I kicked it with a friend I used to do meth with and he suggested we do it again for old time sakes. I was all over the idea.. I regretted it shortly after.. But its part of the game sometimes. Best idea is to avoid kicking it with those old friends unless you tell them before hand over the phone that you'll peace out if they bring up doing drugs. It sounds kinda dickish but once its said... If they bring it up in front of you then its disrespectful of them. But if you're still using.. And gonna kick it with an old friend that used to use with you but it is now sober.. Its probably best you avoid mentioning using in front of them at all costs. Since these things should be a learning lesson. :)

Good luck man! Don't beat yourself up too much.

Its not like you introduced him to your dude. If he was eager to "steal" your dudes number, obviously he wasn't really determined to stay clean.

I get why u would feel bad but the thing is he has to make choices for himself. I don't think u should have put im in that situation but its not like u forced him to relapse. Similar situation of mine i have a friend who is addicted to hydrocodone so ive tried to keep my heroin addiction from her so she wouldn't be tempted. She found out begged for a hit i gave her one she did it with me all weekend. I felt bad. Luckily she didn't like it enough to keep going with it because the hydrocodone made her hyper where h makes u nodd off but now shes back on the pills.

that's sad. i feel so bad when people relapse after so much time sober. it really is a never-ending battle.
my NA counselor has seen addicts who've been totally sober for up to 35 years suddenly relapse.
