[Feedback Thread] How can WE improve on the PD forum? Suggestions welcome!

That does not really mean anything other than that we call each of your ethnobotanic threads a subthread of the Big & Dandy Ethnobotanics thread, then eventually we can make an index of those subthreads in that Big & Dandy thread.

I agree. Go for it Teo if you want to. This is our current format. Have a gander at our PD index and the subthreads of our popular threads (LSD, ketamine, mushrooms, etc.)

That would be the way to do it with a "Big & Dandy Ethnobotanials thread". You could make some good OP's for the subthreads. Kind of like an info-FAQ or something, and people can ask question and expand upon it in the thread.

If the admins decide to create an ethonobotanicals forum they can easily be moved over there.

We appreciate the help if you are willing to give it. :)

I'm talking about like heroin addicts dude.

There are plenty of serious scientist who take entheogens.

That's a pretty ridiculous thing to say, man. If you knew anything about the problem of opiate addiction, you would know that it effects people from all professions and all social classes.

And speaking as an indoctrinee into the scientific circle-jerk, I can assure you that its pompous attitudes of superiority like yours that have degraded the honorable pursuit of science into a competitive endeavor for douchebags.

There's nothing about being a scientist that precludes one from relying on a substance as a crutch. There are drug-addicted scientists just like there are drug-addicted politicians, musicians, and homeless dudes. Its possible for anyone to become an addict, all it takes is the correct circumstances.

What are you talking about? If I count correctly and it's Teo's suggestions about creating those threads, isn't that exactly what we came to agree on? I tripped over some crudeness and somehow misinterpreted his suggestion as renaming every Big & Dandy thread to something less childish - for which I apologize by the way. In the end I get some things he is talking about but the way he said it and also PMed there was something thats inflexible on the one hand but downright to the point on the other.
I think we can all settle down a bit, whats trippy is how fast it seemed to spin out of control. Again I say it was a little bit too much too fast to see the common ground of our opinions but we can all talk about it as adults and I'm glad that something productive seems to be coming out of what starting out as a huge incompatibility.

Too much has been said already and I reaaally need to shut up right about now. =D

Ha ha. No, I was referring to my suggestion to delay thread mergers until discussion slows down in order to maximize exposure. Didn't intend to offend. I understand why the mergers happen.

I don't get offended easily, so don't worry about me.

Sorry if I offended anybody else.

Ah no one offended me either - just indignant ex? druggy transient outrage maybe fuelled by a nasty comedown that's all :D

So you stated that people growing plants will help to save the planet ( maybe I paraphrased slightly) - any particular types of plants, any particular means of cultivation - monoculture with everthingsides cool/uncool ? - what's your vision - I am seriously interested in visions :)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89EtGjU0qgU ~ ? I threw it in "just because" :)

^ That's a good start - there's probably a lot of things that would offend me - mainly getting my myriad shortcomings pointed out - if you want to offend me that's the way to go about it successfully - shoots self in foot for kicks

take a look at my interested in my introduction page

what do you know about monoculture and permaculture B9?

That is what im going to minor in

please post in my intro thread

I spent all of the 08-09 academic year in policy debate discussing agricultural policy. Shiva's arguments about monoculture are fascinating - have you heard of an author by that name, Teot? If not I can ask one of my debater friends for a full name and article/book name. She discusses the basic problem of monocultures with food crops, then applies that concept to human culture - basically framing a leftist critique of the modern Western world view with the metaphor of monoculture versus indigenous diversity. Not sure I agree with her harsh view on scientific thought, but it's a worthwhile read.

Myself, I did what I always do - sidestep the topic to rant about capitalism being bad. This time, the way I tied it in was an article by my favorite Marxist author talking about the hypocrisy of the US demanding free market reforms in the third world while maintaining its own farm subsidies as a protectionist policy for our own agricultural exports. Then I read some stuff about how capitalism exists only because we believe in it and pulled some masterful sophistry to win the debate ;)

Without wanting to be rude or egotistical, one way of keeping a forum friendly is to stop arguments before they break out. I know I closed a lot of threads when mod, but one of the main reasons was to avoid the negative vibe of people, ineveitably, arguing about the same thing over and over.

Just 2cents or so....

While i agree with you swillow, i dont think closing one of Teo's threads will stop the argument there.
He is guilty of bringing his bullshit over from thread to thread and to threads that he didnt even start. Threads with legitamate posts other than the bickering he has caused.

IMO, more so than the fights, the problem is Teo. And thats a problem we are addressing right now.

I can only encourage people to report posts which they find destructive to the forum, and let the mods handle it from there.

And example of a destructive post is if Teo comes into a thread and starts preaching his dogmatic, natural is better than synthetic bullshit. Because he knows it will stir up shit and his been warned multiple times to keep out of here.

From here on out i will infract till he gets banned unless this bullshit stops.

i think that because this is a harm reduction site, you should refuse to cooperate with law enforcement if they ask for information regarding drug charges. you could maybe plead the fifth? -> you know people are using information on this site to commit crimes, safely.. don't sell out the good citizens just to save your own asses..

^Well, ideally, there is nothing illegal taking place on the website; ie. dealing. If the police decided to seize Bluelight servers, they can.

The BLUA does stipulate that no illegal sourcing or dealing should be happening; the people who own them shouldn't be held responsible for the actions of the forum users. Its not that Admin will helpfully give the coppers a gander at everything, but if served with a warrant, they will.

Its the users' responsibilty to keep it legal.

There are police on the board, but they have rarely bothered people here. Harm reduction is for everyone, and I'd welcome LE here, if they were open-minded.

There have been raids earlier in BL history in australia, but afaik, not since...
