Feds remain AWOL as public pot smoking begins

Midnight came, dozens of pot smokers descended on the Space Needle, and a large cloud of smoke headed skyward. No arrests were made and no federal officials were at the scene. A bigger crowd was expected Thursday night.

Local police weren’t even at the midnight smoke-in, partly because the state hasn’t passed a law to detail the procedure for busting people for public pot smoking.

why is a new law required to simply detail a procedure to enforce an existing law?

Amsterdam is a transatlantic flight, Washington state is a 4 hour drive for me. Thanks for the reminder to hide it in national parks, I'm canadian i wouldnt have even thought of that. The idea i can buy weed in spokanne and go camping in the moutains made me finally get a passport. I never go to the states now because i cant bring weed, and buying it on the corner is how half those "cops" shows start. WA and CO are going to have so many people visiting from nearby states, some will just pick up weed and go right back home but they still buy food and gas, as well as weed. I will smoke as much there as i can, too bad i cant bring it back to canada, americans are lucky. People will drive days to pick up weed in those places for sure. If you and a friend took turns driving you could get to CO and back to any state in a weekend i bet.

Yet mostly if woman can keep the Goverment out of there uterus' then they need to keep them out of my lungs and or brownies!

lol I've been in Denver on vacation and have thoroughly enjoyed the legality. In a few days though I go back home to the draconian marijuana laws. I'm about to quit after this vacation for at least the semester so I thought I'd have a going out party all by myself.

cuz like it was illegal to smoke weed there is a law against it nationally but the state government passed a law that sort of invalidates the federal law illegally, but cuz the state decides it's legal now they have to enforce rules based off of that and I guess if the police are paid by the state government, they follow state laws, so basically as a state, we told the government we don't care and writing different laws

 

"Neither States nor the Executive branch can nullify a statute passed by Congress"

And congress cant nullify the 10th amendment.

Aphex I was going to say the same thing - their reasoning was probably (a) a black person doing it will make it look more like a criminal offence, (b) if it's a white guy in the picture people might miss the point entirely and think he's smoking a normal cigarette, which, as we know, black people would never do.
