Feds order pot shops to close within 45 days

Sad day. I think it comes down to the fact that Obama is up for reelection, and the smart thing for him to do is to do what the majority of people that vote want. Polls are still showing that the majority of american voters are against medical marijuana, so that's what he does.

Actually, a Gallup poll released this week shows that half of Americans favor the outright legalization of marijuana.

I have a slightly more sinister theory. Sativex is in phase III clinical trials in the US. That's one step short of FDA approval. Sativex is backed by powerful factions of the pharma lobby. You'd think there'd be some pressure on politicians and federal attorneys from the pharma lobby to downscale medical marijuana, otherwise who'd buy an expensive and less-potent mouth spray if they can just buy or grow the actual plant? This is speculation.

another step back for pot
flam me if you may
but
at this point it doesnt really matter anymore , pot smokers will smoke pot regardless if its legal or not. because as long as its illegal we will have Pot dealers,so thank you dealers for providing pot smokers forever and ever they will be there AS LONG AS ITS ILLEGAL. Profiting from this major growing bizness ;)
so who cares lets just keep on smoking and eventually the government will finally realize how deep their heads are up their asses
i rather give my money to my trusty dealer then to the government at this point

Does anyone know if Ron Paul is still running ? All I hear about on CNN is Mick Romney and Herman Cain who sound like douchers tbh

sorry but the government is the biggest dealer of all. There is NO WAY that Pot, cocaine, Meth, ..etc. Can come into USA at the amounts that they do without the knowledge and permission of authorities. A criminal enterprise cannot function without the knowledge and permission of the authorities.

Heres a list of CRIMINALS that bill Clinton pardon http://www.justice.gov/pardon/clinton_comm.htm

Some crimes include Murder, drug dealing, bank fraud, tax evasion, embezzlement, fire arms trafficking, and my favorite unlawful storage of explosives

well it is obviously permitted by the "authorities" because it is very easily accessible.at least in the city were i am at.

Yea, Ron is still running he just doesn't get any air time because the media doesn't want people to realize how much all the other politicians suck.

The corporation & elite assholes want puppets in office they can control like Romney & Cain. If Ron Paul would get in, he would probably end up like JFK. Ron Paul wouldnt put up with their b.s.

The media is controlled 100% by interest groups that run this country the "crooked" way. Ron Paul wont get as much air time because they dont want him winning.

Even if he somehow got elected (or VP'd into the presidency), he could only really change the actions of agencies under the executive branch (and only during his time in office). Enacting laws would require congress, and I can't imagine them being cooperative with Paul's agenda. The best path for reform would have to be a broad populist movement to scare Washington into cooperation so they could get reelected---though Paul's election would probably require this to begin with, or serious opposition by state governments asserting their rights (which would have negative impacts as well...especially in states not inclined towards electing administrations of your party of preference).

Of course that's not gonna happen and it's going to be Obama vs Romney as things stand (the crazies won't get the nomination, they never do, they only appeal to the hardcore base...not really viable in the general electorate). And Romney may very easily go the way of Bob Dole, while he has his loyal supporters he's not the exciting to most Republicans...Obama wins. It'd still be a close vote though. At least that's my prediction (who knows, things may change, underdog candidates get support, major economic/political developments).

Yea Im aware that most Americans support MMJ. But saying "voters support" and "Americans support" are two entirely different things considering the 18-29 age bracket (who are more in favor of MMJ) votes at a much lower rate than say middle aged married couples (who are majorly opposed to MMJ). If I am Obama I take the young vote for granted because most young liberals will not vote republican, ever. I court the demographic that I am weakest in because I stand to gain the most from it.

Add in the fact that drug companies are very powerful lobbies and stand to lose a lot of money due to MMJ, and its not a tough choice from Obamas standpoint. Support the younger generation perceived as stoned slackers who are not politically organized and don't vote as much, or the politically powerful drug company lobby and middle aged parents who vote more. Easy choice.

Unfortunately Ron Paul's digging his own grave. Even amongst supporters he's kind of making people uneasy. I mean it's one thing to end the War on Drugs and drastically cut federal spending, it's another to want to build a colossal border fence along the entire southern country, to abolish every federal agency that exists (he never did mention the DEA in that long list), and to end all federal "welfare" programs.

He goes from sensible to insane and back again. I'm still gonna vote for him because this country is digging it's own grave and radical change is needed, but I'm not gonna be super happy about it.

The DEA is under the supervision of the Department of Justice...

Yea I expect there to be some very large scale protests. The feds have really gone too far with this; their stupidity and ignorance sickens me.
I also live and Florida and me and my mom have been hoping it will get mmj do to the multiple medical connditions I have that weed helps allot. I am not getting my hopes up since it is fucking shithole bible belt run Florida. It's bad enough that I can't get perscribed a medicine that works wonders for me and even worse my doctor tests me for it. I almost got dropped as a patient when failing a test for marijuana.

I Live in San Francisco, 12 of the clubs around here have received letters telling them they are going to be raided. I'm definitely going to be chilling at one and watching, I'll film some shit go down if i get there in time for the raid. Probably gonna happen early in the AM. Either way I'll try to catch it on film for you guys at one of the biggest clubs here.

Forgive me if this has been brought up as I only read the first page of comments, but it always tends to surprise me that it isn't the FIRST criticism of these federal attacks on medical marijuana legislation that they are in fact unconstitutional. The tenth amendment to the bill of rights gives states authority of their own policing/policy making; drug law or otherwise. The states have the first say, the federal government has no authority on this issue. Their threats and actions against states in this issue is a clear violation of the very constitution which makes said government.... A clear sign that nothing less than revolution will reinstate the freedoms promised to us..

I'm from California, been a patient for two years. This threat makes a disgusting mockery of true freedom. This is both sad and infuriating to me.

The problem is the 14th amendment, which incorporates the united states, whereas before each state was its own entity (as opposed to now, where they are entitys within the united states)
