Favourite song lyrics

Now I'm round at the back of your house at night
Peeping in the window are you sleeping tight?

What's my name - Clash

...Atlantis, Atlantis
You remember Atlantis
Donovan, the guy with the brocade coat,
Used to sing to you about Atlantis
You loved it, you were so involved then
That was back in the days when you used to
Smoke a banana
You would scrape the stuff off the middle
You would smoke it
You even thought you was getting ripped from it
No problem...

The Blue Light - Frank Zappa

He'll straighten up his turban
An' eject a little ooze
Along a one-celled Hammond Organism
Underneath my shoes

Excentrifugal Forz - Frank Zappa

And Noah looked out through the driving rain
Them unicorns were hiding, playing silly games
Kicking and splashing while the rain was falling
Oh, them silly unicorns

this is my anthem.

Hey SHM, we're off to see what remains of the Stranglers sometime soon. Just thought you'd like to know. :)

I saw the (then) remains of the Stranglers at Oxegen back in 2008. Half the tent emptied after they'd played 'Golden Brown'. I stayed for the whole show because they have loads more gold.

I think anytime I'm drinking and a guitar gets pulled out, Golden Brown is the first thing I play because most people know the words.

I sometimes forget the sensitivity of Northern folk. To me, that's an auld ballad, but I know it's pretty loaded.

I'm going to Bantry for a day out, incidentally.

Yah.

The way I have Rosie McCann imagined, she's my perfect woman. I also live on the banks of the Bann :)

Oh she looked so sweet from her two bare feet
To the sheen of her nut brown hair
Such a coaxing elf, sure I shook myself
To be sure I was really there.

Through dirty winding road, around your feet
That carries me along
and into the beat
Didn't need to go so far
You found what you were looking for
I didn't need to go so far
To find what you were looking for
Because you were always right
Just right behind
You just didn't know
You just didn't care
It was there,
In your own backyard

At Oranmore in the county Galway
One pleasant evening in the month's of May
I spied a damsel; she was young and handsome
Her beauty fairly took my breath away

She wore no jewels, nor costly diamonds
No paint nor powder, no none at all
But she wore a bonnet with ribbons on it
And 'round her shoulders was the Galway shawl

"i'm a man on fire coming trough your street with one guitar and two dancing feet. Only one desire
that's left in me,
I want the whole damn world to come dance with me"

Oh, who will plough the fields now?
And who will sow the corn
And who will watch the sheep now?
And keep them from all harm
And the stack that's in the haggard
Unthreshed it may remain
Since Johnny, lovely Johnny
Went to fight the king of Spain

Oh, the girls of the Banóg
In sorrow may retire
And the piper and his bellows
May go home and blow the fire
Since Johnny, lovely Johnny
Went sailing o'er the main
Along with other patriots
To fight the king of Spain

Oh, oh, I love her so
Even though we just met
Maybe I'm foolish, but maybe some things are meant
Was it her hair, dark as the night?
And in the light, I'll make her mine
Oh, oh, oh, diary of a lover
Yeah, I tell her I love her

Even though I share her
I'm still fortunate
Just getting to know her
Makes me remember things I forget

Will you say to them when I'm gone
"I loved your son for his sturdy arms
We both learned to cradle then live without"
