Went to an oldskool gathering in a park this afternoon, many classics were played. I was only there for about an hour though. This crew put on at least one Sunday afternoon oldskool gig like this each year, and my ex-boyfriend and his mates do about 3 or 4 oldskool parties every year <3

A few quick videos I took this afternoon:

I love HHC and I think that most of it sucks, haha. Seriously though. It's definitely not the most bad ass in my collection, and I wouldn't really ever show it to someone with the intention of turning them on to electronic music, but it has a very special place in my heart because of my past experiences. I hate most of the lyrics, but there are some gems that I really enjoy for exactly the reason you listed... the euphoric, uplifting sounds.

Seeing it live though, is my favorite. There's really nothing like rolling during a good HHC show. It's so much fun to dance to and everyone's just smiling, singing, and having the best time. I like a variety of electronic music, and have seen so many awesome shows, but the ones that stand out the most in my mind are the Candyballs, the Hullas, etc.

yeah I feel like HHC is either hit or miss. Sometimes it really hits the spot. It's sentimental without being cheesy, which makes it feel out of this world. But other HHC is like "WTF???" 8o8o8o

I'm never very comfortable with the whole HHC genre, I remeber when I first heard the phrase used back in about 94-95, at that time a really liked the stuff, it was happy but conscious. The later stuff with loads of lyrics (green eyes, shooting star etc) really doesnt float my boat at all.

Loved this track when it came out, the paino break just ripped it up, wish I could still dance that hard :-

The Fat Controller - In Complete Darkness

Happy hardcore was always playing when I went to the Labyrinth, hence me recommendation for the jungle stuff which was in the little downstairs bit near the outside bit which was excellent.

Ahh Labrynth Dalston, I went there regularly from about '93 till it got closed, loved that place and lots of great memories

The girl at the bar in the main room always seemed so miserable..on reflection it may just have been I was very, very happy.

The garden seemed to have a different layout everytime I went there..again something else may have contributed to this perception;)

There was a room upstairs but i could rarely find it..reasons as above=D

Some bloke trying to chat up my missus pointed me out in the crowd and said "have you seen that nutter over there" =D

Always great music and great people<3

Definitely. As ATM Mentioned... I HATE pretty green eyes, and shooting star. Way over rated. Guys singing in it is awful, I don't understand why any producer would make this decision. Also, what's up with the bad rapping and what I call "kiddy-core" sound: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lvN-0YLP0M It sounds like they are playing the record too fast and a baby is singing... yuck!

It's a damn shame, cause the genre has something to offer, but it seems so many can't get it right. Then people hear these songs and are instantly turned off. Usually, when I download a HHC cd, I'll just take one or two tracks from it, cause I hate the rest. My HHC collection is pretty much single tracks, because there aren't any good whole albums.
