Favorite sad music?

Pretty much anything by Type O Negative, their music is so emotionally raw... RIP Peter Steele.

you know, Victory At Sea kind of makes me want to cut off my hands entirely. sometimes she sounds reminiscent of Grace Slick, but she possesses an unwaveringly authentic emotional scream.

Gymnopdies - Erik Satie (although I listen to this when I am not feeling sad also)

damn you beat me to it..

this is how it breaks down for me:

almost anything by The Smiths
"Ave Maria" - Guilio Caccini
Recuerdos de Alhambra
I Can't Seem (to Make You Mine) - the Clientele
Somethin' Stupid - Frank Sinatra
When Will You Come Home - Galaxie 500
In the Wake of Poseidon - King Crimson
Cody - Mogwai
Made of Stone - Stone Roses
Katy Song - Red House Painters

^Huh. No, I had no idea about Because being inspired by Moonlight Sonata-
But bringing up the Beatles reminds me, I'd probably put up Long, Long, Long, Yesterdayand Mother Nature's Son as some of my fav sad songs.........
And I can't believe I didn't include Billie Holiday- Strange Fruit, which is possibly my favorite song ever :)
Billie has a number of AMAZING sad songs........

Kyuss, to me at least, sounded best a couple of years ago during a serious sad point in my life. Their discography is just outstanding. Besides their debut, Blues for the Red Sun, S/T (Welcome to Sky Valley), and ...And The Circus Leaves Town are like an early Black Sabbath homage, but deeply mixed with their own style. Their guitarist is Josh from Queens of the Stone Age, but he doesn't sing for Kyuss.

Dreadful Shadows - Estrangement

Probably the only good thing they released, and while I'm not into gothic metal in any way, this album is emotional in a way that isn't cheesy, plus it has enough diversity to not only maintain my interest, but makes it seem that they were actually inspired and authentic.
