Favorite Psychedelic Rock Songs?

I was tripping on some fresh picked mushrooms a couple of years ago and was extremely fortunate to have two psychedelic rock songs come on the radio:

The Babe Rainbow – Secret Enchanted Broccoli Forest
Foxygen – We are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace and Magic

This was just so amazing for me. A true musical re-awakening. I loved that gnarly, cutting edge feeling that psych rock gave me. Since then I’ve spent a decent amount of time and money searching for more trippy, gnarly music. I’m more of an album guy, though, so here’s the best picks from my collection thus far (it’s a long list but it wouldn’t feel right to leave any out):

Thee Oh Sees – Floating Coffin, Putrifiers II, Castlemania, etc.
Pond – Man it Feels Like Space Again, Beard Wives Denim
Wand – Golem, 1000 Days
Unknown Mortal Orchestra – I & II
White Fence – Is Growing Faith, S/T, For the Recently Found Innocent, Cyclops Reap
Brian Jonestown Massacre – Thank God for Mental Illness, Take it from the Man
Pink Floyd – Piper at the Gates of Dawn
Ty Segall – Twins, Manipulator, Goodbye Bread, Hair, etc.
Salvia Plath – The Bardo Story
Jacco Gardiner – Hypnophobia
Creeping Pink – Mirror Woods
Temples – Sun Structures
Panda Bear – Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper (not rock but awesome)
Tame Impala – Innerspeaker, Lonerism
Wampire – Curiosity
The Stepkids – S/T
The Beatles – Sgt Pepper’s, Magical Mystery Tour
Damaged Bug – Hot Cold Plumbs
Dungen – Ta Det Lungt, Tio Bitar
Foxygen – We Are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Space and Magic
H. Hawkline – In the Pink of Condition
Jagwar Ma – Howlin’
Melody’s Echo Chamber – S/T
Jackson Scott – Melbourne
MGMT – Congratulations, S/T
The Horrors – Primary Colours
Morgan Delt – S/T
The Smoking Trees – TST
Butthole Surfers – Locust Abortion Technician
Burnt Ones – Gift
Opossom – Electric Hawaii

That was fun. Enjoy, or don’t :)

The Notorious Byrd Brothers - particularly Wasn't Born To Follow but the other tracks are almost as groovy. ,
I made myself a 255 song compilation (255 was all my Denon can shuffle play) of psychedelic songs from my misspent youth in late-60s London -
Arthur Brown : Devil's Grip,
The Purple Gang : Granny Takes A Trip,
Tomorrow : My White Bicycle
Pink Floyd : Lucifer Sam
Holy Modal Rounders : STP Song
Clear Light : How Many Days Have Passed Since Yesterday
& lots of Beatles, Stones, Roy Harper & Dylan.

The one and only :-

Easter Everywhere is up there as one of my favourite albums of all time, a masterpiece IMHO
