Favorite Older Games

Commodore 64:
Mail Order Monsters
Sammy Lightfoot
Mule
Archon

PC:
Master of Magic (even though had crappy AI)
Civilization
Dune 2
Colonization
Quest for Glory series
Quake

Nintendo:
Bionic Commando
Street Fighter 2
Mario Cart
Final Fantasy 1, 2 and 3

I know I forgot a bunch, but this is my list.

Quake seconded! -but I'm not sure if it counts as "older".. have you played it recently? Versions like Darkplaces and EZQuake with 24-bit textures make it look modern. +widescreen support. game looks better than any 360 game I've played, even though it renders with less polys.

Other than that, I used to enjoy the Wipeout games on PS, King's Field Series games on PS (never played the one on PS2)

Sonic the Hedgehog series

Ultima Online was probably the reason, or one of the reasons I had to drop out of college my second time through.

Kid Chameleon

Chakan

I have been playing through super mario brothers 3 again, I almost forgot how much fun it is.

i think i missed with my first post in here.

i loved robin hood on the nes. it was a mish-mash of dungeon-crawling, overhead stragety, and 2d fighting... Probably a horrible game overall, but for some reason, I loved it desperately when I was a kid. Killing knights and eating their breads.

Ultima Online.
i didn't actually catch on to it until free shards started popping up all over the place.
the cool thing about the free shards is that they'd put some awesome stuff in the game, change it around. make things interesting.

the shard i played on, there was a ton of awesome stuff they added in.
notably, you could buy weed from cloaked men in alleyways and smoke it out of the bong that set you back a small amount of change. also, it was a PK shard. i tell you, my time was spent hunting stronger creatures, trading items and then i'd get stoned IRL, and go kill noobs for a few hours.
very few guarded areas, and getting hit by the guards only meant 5 min in jail. i used this period of time for cigarette breaks.

it completely consumed my life, and i will never touch an MMO again, but goddamn if i dont look back at the screencaps i have and wish the shard was still around.

i felt it deserved mention, because it's the only game that's ever had that effect on me.

Ultima online in 1999 or so was the best game to ever exist. Period. There was no comparison and never will be.

Quakeworld
Mortal Kombat (UMK3)

I still play them nowadays.

my favorites are:

super mario cart (SNES)
zelda (SNES)
moon patrol (DOS)
Space invaders (DOS)

I'm a big PC adventure game nerd. ((Lucas Arts 4eva!))

Monkey Island 1 (really the whole series)
Sam & Max
King's Quest Series
Maniac Mansion
Adventures in Wonderland(text game)
Kyrandia Series
Loom!!

I've become hooked playing Populous 2 on an Old World Macintosh laptop that I found in the trash last month.

I have an old 8 bit Nintendo system that I grabbed off of E-Bay awhile back. I love the thing. My favorite games on it are Mike Tyson's Punch out and Dragon Warrior. The old skooll is the bomb!!!

I have way too many to list, but probably my #1 as far as real old school shit goes is Crystalis for 8-bit NES. I wish they'd make a sequel to it, but it'll probably never happen.
