If you have a gamecube, pick up "Sonic Mega Collection"

it has all the old sonic games

including my favorite, Sonic 3 and Knuckles, i had hyper sonic, hyper knuckles, and super tails in that game! it was awesome

Out of this World (aka Another World)

+2 Thanks Lane! I had good memories of this one. Trying to put up new shields while shooting at theirs (and not into your own shields), very tough at the end.

Anyone remember the original Mission Impossible on the Atari ST? It lived up to it's name - the only game I could never beat.

I believe the game was called Impossible Mission. And yes, it was dope as fuck and very hard.

Thanks for stealing my thunder, bastard ;) . I was gonna say BC as well lol. This game is the shit once you get used to not being able to jump.

Chrono Trigger (SNES)
F22 Lighting 2 (PC DOS)
Duke Nukem 3D (PC)
Base Wars (NES)
Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES)
Super Mario All Stars (SNES)

I really loved all those old APOGEE games. Commander Keen, Secret Agent.

Brings back memories..

Duke Nukem! love that game. played against friends in college in 1996/1997. roommates all had PCs (me with an old Mac), so we set it up on the network, often using great user-created level. a favorite was a giant hill, with trenches and walls with rooms to scope from and lots of rockets and the like. GREAT game. top five, for sure. never quite transfered well to consoles (64 came closest). let's see: NHL '94 (SNES), Legend Of Zelda (NES), Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past (SNES), Duke Nukem (PC), Street Fighter II Turbo (SNES), Tekken Tag (PS2), Command & Conquer ; Red Alert Retaliation (PS), Sim City (SNES), Goldeneye (N64), F-Zero X (N64), Combat (A2600), 007 T.W.I.N.E. (N64), oh, there are so many games...

as mentioned in the survival horror thread

Ultima Online.
i didn't actually catch on to it until free shards started popping up all over the place.
the cool thing about the free shards is that they'd put some awesome stuff in the game, change it around. make things interesting.

the shard i played on, there was a ton of awesome stuff they added in.
notably, you could buy weed from cloaked men in alleyways and smoke it out of the bong that set you back a small amount of change. also, it was a PK shard. i tell you, my time was spent hunting stronger creatures, trading items and then i'd get stoned IRL, and go kill noobs for a few hours.
very few guarded areas, and getting hit by the guards only meant 5 min in jail. i used this period of time for cigarette breaks.

it completely consumed my life, and i will never touch an MMO again, but goddamn if i dont look back at the screencaps i have and wish the shard was still around.

i felt it deserved mention, because it's the only game that's ever had that effect on me.

i used to love Boulderdash and Lode Runner..... they kept me entertained :) Then i moved onto Doom and there was no turning back....
