I have only been shooting for a couple months, and have ran into different kinds of needle, the thin gague ones, the thick gague ones, the ones with 100 units space and the ones with 50. My favorite is the kind with 100 units of space (u-100 im guessing, it makes sense). I don't know what gague i use, but I do know that I hate the thin gague needles, they get clogged up too easily, they also dont seem to stay put in the vein as easily. I was wondering if different drugs work better with different types (excluding IM), and more importantly, what other bluelighters preferences are.
 
I think they are called BD's, 29 gauge which is fairly decent. Last ten pack I bought they were out of the BD's so I had to get some super cheap brand that is 30 gauge, and hard as HELL to hit with. I would like to find some 28 gauge needles but in my area that seems very hard...
 
I tend to like BD 1/2cc although I also like the 1cc, (typical insulin needles). The 1/2cc has a pop off needle tip that sometimes can help when a clog is present.


In Illinois there was a new law or bylaw or someshit that was passed about a month ago which allows most pharmacies to now sell needles without a prescription. I have had success at about 8 of out 10 pharmacies. Many that would have turned there collar and laughed at selling me needles now have to. Which will probably return to bite me in the ass, but it sure is helpful when I am stuck with a clogged needle with my last bag in it and I need a pack of freshies.

So go out and buy your needles, shoot your shit, but remember practice harm reduction:|
 
My favorite is 23G (0.6mm) needles. Where I live almost noone uses one piece insulin syringes, we use separate syringes and needles. Right now i'm using 2ml syringes, but I actually think 5 ml syringes are easier to inject with.
 
23g? wtf? iv'ed? maybe im'ed.

i like 29g 1/2 or 5/8". i'll use a 27g though if its available. for iv'ed that is.
 
I like 26g 1cc because they are really easy to hit with and take a very long time to go dull. I have been using the same rig for like a week and it works great. 30g is good too cause they don't hurt at all, but they go dull to fast and getting rigs is a bitch in jersey, gotta go all the way to NY.

We can get whole boxes of clean needles delivered to our house for free any day of the week between 7:30pm and 11:30pm
It really is a good service! Needles are free from services like that and needle exchanges, or can be bought at many chemists.

Personally I'm partial to the Terumo u100 27g 1mL syringes, if only because I'm hell used to the them.

Terumo u-100 1ml 27g---Its not that i have much choice,these are what almost every needle exchange in Aust stocks,sometimes they have 29g fits,personally i prefer 27g,I just don't like the jack back delay from 29g.
 
Yeah, I'm a bit of a fan of the standard issue Terumo 27g 1/2" too. Never had one fuck up, and I'm very familiar with them. Only used the 29g a couple of times. I find the needle a little too flimsy and I agree the jack back just isn't the same.

I think the B&Ds are better quality needles, though. The 23g B&Ds are a great IM needle.

I don't know why you think 23g is too large for iv. I think it's great, and it nearly the default needle here i reckon. But many people use even larger needles, I've personally seen people inject with 21g (0.8mm) many times.

I have tried 28g though and I didn't like it. Takes too long to get the stuff in you.

IVing with fat needles like the 23g will cause greater vein damage, faster than finer needles.

Each time a needle breaks through the vein, a small amount of scar tissue is left. This builds up over time (much faster when the hole is bigger, and there is more scar tissue) eventually bringing the sides of the vein together and it collapses.

If you want to keep shooting up for years to come and have nice fat veins, I'd suggest you use a finer needle. Even a 25 or 26 guage would be better.

If I may makea request - please post the following when you post yer favorite needle:

1) What Country/State you live in

2) the Legal status of buying syringes/needles where you live (and only if you know the law, don't "guess" because some asshole pharmacist said he wouldn't sell you any)

And a 23g needle for IV use? The only time a 23g needle is used for a vein is when they are drawing blood or starting an IV line .... ralf - I suggest you give the 29g needle a shot (hahaha 'shot' - stupid pun!) ... if you keep using a 23g needle for you're IV drug shots, and yer slamming more then more then, say, one every few months, you're going to end up killing yer veins ...
 
I've used a 1 1/2" 20g 5cc syringe to IV morphine, it was a needle designed for IM, but it was all i had at the particular moment. It was very painfull, and tore a large hole in the vein, and bleed immensely. I like syringes with removed needles, and i like 3.5cc terumo syringe, because i inject very large doses of opiates, and need more than 1cc of fluid to prepare what im shooting, be it .8g of tar, or a bunch of oc80s, i need more fluid to sufficiently dissolve such a large amount of drug. Sometimes I use 5cc rigs if necessary, like when shooting methadone oral solution (micron filtered). I have a range of 27-30g of detachable needles. Since i use micron filters frequently since i do shoot pills, i need screw type syringes. I also have 1cc terumos 27g for injecting more potent drugs, like Versed ampules, ketamine and good east coast powder. I am not fixated on injecting. I have shot up countless number of times, but each time i dont particularly enjoy it, or at least not untill i get into the vein and press the plunger down, sending the drug on its way. I've never injected saline out of boredown or that type of thing. When i inject, I do it for a reason, and since i have collasped many large veins, I have to resort to small veins, mainly around my wrists. These spots tend to be more painfull too, and balloon up into a lump if you accidently pierce through the vein completely. Injecting to me is almost a chore, unless i have some good heroin and I know im gonna nod hard.
 
I like the BD 27.5g 1cc syringes. I'm from New York, so it's legal for pharmacies to sell you up to ten needles at a time without a prescription, but oftentimes they won't, anyway.

I like to use to use anything from 1/2cc 29 guage to 1cc 27 guage...BD of course.but in tough times , I have used 3ml 23guage needle for IV injection...<--deffinately something I don't like to do regulary...

They are illegal to purchase where I live , but we have an excelent needle exchnge(actually a needle and works handout) every sunday about 20 minutes from my home... I can go and pick up whatever I think I will need for the week. or two weeks or so if I won't make it back...I usually pick boxes of 100 up for a few people back home... I roll out of there with like 1000's of syringes, cottons, cookers, alcohol swabs..and antibiotic cream just about every month.


I'm sure a lot of bigger cities have programs like this
 
I work in an NSEP (needle and syringe exchange program) in Australia and a 27 guage tip should be fine for shooting, if it is clogging get a 'wheel filter' wich will filter out all the chalk and shit if your shooting pills, personally I prefer a 3ml barrel with a screw on 27guage tip.
