I picked Carnivale as my favorite, followed by Sopranos.... but don't sleep on Band of Brothers! That was an awesome HBO series that sometimes reruns in edited form on A+E. I also like Deadwood a lot, too. Man, I hate the fucking networks with their retreaded crap sitcoms and "reality" tv. HBO is the only channel that consistently lives up to or beats expectations.

i fuckin love the shit out of OZ.

S&TC- Meh
Carnivale- Interesting but went nowhere
Soapranos- FEW Very brief moments of gold spread out over far too many episodes.
Ali G- Funny but not consistantly funny.

Deadwood, best show on TV. Although the last 2 episodes were a little weak. Every character is perfectly cast.

two fucking pages and no one says MR SHOW. how the fuck could you have missed that one. it's some of the funniest shit HBO ever put on air

Wow... US imports get some real criticism in the UK, but over the years HBO has produced some real gems. As other's have stated, Oz, Six Feet Under and The Sopranos are the stand outs amongst the list.

Also, on behalf of the UK nation, I humbly apologise for our hand in producing Ali G.

mr show and band of brothers are both great. I'd actually pick them over the beloved soapranohs.

A year ago I would have said Sopranos without a doubt, but it's a much closer call now. It comes down to Entourage or Sopranos for me.

The only way I can decide is if I had the choice to watch one or the other but not both - I would rather watch Entourage.

Fuck me thats a hard choice.

I said Curb but The Wire, Six Feet, Sopranos and Oz all rate big time with me.

Yeah, Band of Brothers was quite excellent... but Oz still gets my vote. :)

shit man, you really tempt me to come down to the marly on thursday so we can discuss simon adabesi's cock over a few drinks....

finance pending.....

1. Sopranos
2. Band of Brothers- Spielberg/Hanks- doesn't get much better than that.
3. Sex and the City. Yes, I'm a straight guy that likes SATC. I don't understand it myself. I find Sarah Jessica Parker attractive, unlike many.
4. The Wire
5. Oz
6. Curb Your Enthusiasm.

HBO produces the best quality TV in the US as far as I'm concerned. Carnivale, however, was a notable exception. It was like sex without orgasm. The Sopranos has fallen off IMO, but they've got me. The Wire consistently delivers, as well as Oz and Curb.

I went for Six Feet Under aswell. Possibly my favourite program of all time.

Most HBO series are generally really good anyway. The Sopranos and Oz are my other two favourites.

the first time this thread was bumped up i picked carnivale, followed by sopranos and band of brothers. now, i'd like to say:

1. deadwood
2. band of brothers
3. curb your enthusiasm
4. the wire
5. sopranos
6. lucky louie
7. entourage
8. carnivale

sopranos dropped due to too many gay-themed episodes, a meandering plot, and a general decline over the years.

carnivale dropped cause it ended in the most ridiculous possible fashion.
