Ghost in the Shell
Armitage: Dual Matrix
Grave of the Fireflies
Spirited Away
Princess Mononoke
Kiki's Delievery Service
...hell anything from studio Ghibli =D

Having read the manga, I find Akira to be disapointment - it would have done better justice to its creator as a 6 part OVA as opposed to one feature film.

Series & OVA's

Rurouni Kenshin - although the last arc of the TV series (Tales of the Meji) is a pile of shit - god I wished they had waited for Watsuki Nobuhiro to finish the Jinchuu arc)

Boogiepop Phantom
Haibane Renmei
Nadesico
Crest of the Stars & Banner of the Stars

Ghost in the Shell - Stand Alone Complex

I'm sure there is heaps I've missed - and yes I'm obsessed with anime, my DVD, Fansub and Manga collection will attest to that ;)

does Star Blazers count? that was my fav when I was a kid.... *prepares to be flamed for being ghey*

i may have missed this in the thread, but the director of ghost in the shell did a live action movie in poland called avalon. it's pretty alright and explores interesting themes, but the anime still is far more expressive and absorbing..

Bubblegum Crisis
Evangelion
Armitage the III (poly matrix and Dual matrix)
Robotech
Ghost in the shell
Metropilous (spl?)
Vampire Hunter D
Spriggan
Cowboy Bebop (series and movie)
kinda over akira, seen it so many times :( still awesome, but, too much repetition..

Blood, the last vampire
Akira
Ghost in the shell

the 2nd renaissance i, ii

a lot of stuff makes me cringe away, like fist of the north star etc.
i suppose i just aint cultured enough?

my mood always swings me towards the western style of anime.

The Cell Saga from DBZ (I like seeing displays of godlike power, and DBZ pulls this off like no other)

The original Dragon Ball manga shits all over the anime. Pure Akira Toriyama at his best. I prefer the Namek/Freeza saga best. It contains more side and twists, and the ultimate comic book battle.....
Goku vs Freeza.
