Film Favorite “comfort” films

Dogma
Sci Fi Mystery 3,000 movie.

Dogma I watched 'religiously' before every piss test when I was on probation. Movie brings me comfort and I have no explanation
Man, I LOVE the Mystery Sci Fi 3000 series. Fantastic! But I never saw the movie, didn't know there was one. How did that work since every show in the series actually was about a movie?

Parasite
Taxi driver
Rope ( me and my wife's total comfort film,we can just close our eyes and listen)
Blade runner
Are you being served (a TV series so not a film so I'll add one more)
Old boy [the original obviously]
I could be tempted to put Parasite top of my list of all time greatest movies. ( But in honesty, there have to be a bunch of ties, so many great movies out there) I just don't feel like watching it for comfort. But wow is that an incredible movie. Funny as hell, then dark as hell, and with a message I wish more movies had.
Did you ever see Shoplifters, the Japanese movie a couple years earlier? Kind of a similar theme and quite good.

my comfort movie list includes:
  • ferris bueller's day off
  • dazed and confused
  • clueless
  • almost famous
  • four weddings and a funeral
  • high fidelity
  • human traffic
  • rushmore
  • the fifth element
  • withnail & i

Quality list apart from clueless 🙈 my son has the same name and spelling as you .correct scottish /gaelic spelling .you obviously have some scottish herritage or ancestry. Not that I should criticise people's choice of films ,it's snobbish

No way ,I'm a good bit further north. I love Edinburgh especially the Royal Mile, I love how narrow it is and all the old houses especially Mary's close and the museum's as well and in the height of summer there's so much outdoor seating to have a local pint ,not like my city which unless the sun is shining is so dreary

human traffic
The soundtrack from this film is stuck in my head this week. I got the recent 4K BFI release (we never got the “UK version” till now in US) and I was shocked at how much was altered between the two releases. Much better with the English slang.

i had no idea there was a u.s. version of human traffic - is the dialog dubbed? that sounds awful.

such a great movie :)

Yeah, a few random parts are dubbed I guess because in the 90s they figured we couldn’t understand certain slang. And then several scenes are cut, mostly to do with stuff like Moff being a low level hash slinger, or like all the scenes with that guy who played Rick in The Walking Dead talking about how it “isn’t like it used to be”. Just little scenes here and there that overall contribute to making it feel cheesy in the US cut.

That's shocking it was changed.does Holywood think the average or above average American is thick.do you get movies shown in your country filmed
in a foreign language That is dubbed instead of subtitles?.last I heard America only makes films for China.also there all 12 a , more bums on seats

Dubbing was common until after the 90s wrapped up. Still hard to find Italian giallo flicks in Italian on streaming services here.

I never liked to watch movies a lot, and even less rewatch them. But since streaming came up, I got a few series where I do like to rewatch certain scenes that help me get into the mindset I want to get into.
That's when music can't do the trick.
