Our company recently imported 18Kgs of Maltodextrin from an online Australian Vendor into our South Pacific Country for use in our Kava based beverage. The box arrived at the Post office without labels / certificates and the box was obviously wet along the way and bags of Maltodextrin were hanging out the corners. Not a good look I admit.
Anyway, long story short. Customs / Police tested the Maltodextrin and determined that we had imported 18 Kgs of MDA! They tested using either a Marquis OR a standard Australian Federal Police field test kit. I have subsequently tested other plant based fructans (Dextrose, Inulin) using our own Marquis test and these also give false positives.
Has anyone ever heard of False Positives from these similar supplements?
