for those of us that live in these here united states, the time of spring and summer festivals in soon upon us. this is always a time of rebirth and joy, and cataloging the 1337 amounts of pure chemicals you consumed for later bragging rights to all the ladies...
it's not all fun and games though. in every crowd of milling festival goers there are sharks, deceitful peddlers of chemicals so heinous they could have come out of your mother's kitchen cabinets... if your mom is a filthy incense burning hippie that is.
now I live in TN, and by simple virtue of that i go to Roo. I know, i know, Rothbury is way headier (or 10,000 lakes, anyone see that lineup??) but one festival is expensive enough, never mind more cash to drive up the country...
I imagine selling fake drugs is probably the world's third or fourth oldest profession, after selling real ones that is, but for those of you who have also gone on down to Manchester (seemingly more so in recent years), you will know what i mean when i say it is RAMPANT.
I am really not sure what the percentage of fake to real drugs sold there in 2010 was, but this year, with Lil Wayne, Eminem, Bassnectar, girl talk, etc... headlining i think that it might even be worse this year.
I actually am kinda admiring a lot of the smaller bands on the setlist (which actually has Eminem first on it on the website, lol), and my dad works MedEvac so i can get in free, with a staff bracelet that pretty much means nothing...
Anyways, while I've seen everything from fake nugs to mysterious RCs sold as "synthetic mescaline" around, and id say that besides possibly acid, "opium" 8) is probably the most faked drug at bonnaroo, and i'd think we can all be sure that it is by FAR the most faked percentage wise.
So I think it's in order for a "fake festival drugs" list, primarily focusing on opium (and by that im mostly focusing on soapium or laxmi dhoop, everyone seems to have figured out red rock at this point) AND the very rare real opium some people talk about. By that I mean glassy, amberish dark "beer glass" opium (presumably the real deal), and also the mysterious white " unrefined morphine"/"opium" (well they- the dealers, call it opium) glass/powder which I have personally seen there and smoked and can indeed say it was some sort of opie, although I dunno exactly what. Who else knows what i'm talking about, experienced with REAL opium? I am not...
I've done extensive searching online and on this site and while there is good info out there, it is disorganized and I believe getting cu$tied at festivals isn't cool in general- so chicken bullion hash, birth control butterfly "ecstacy" (which was mentioned on here and I remember my friend talking about how he didn't feel a "red butterfly" at dieselboy), whatever is also good- instructional advice on whats what, and what's not.
This is bullshit reduction.. I have a few ideas but I think i've typed enough for now.
