Facebook to DEA: Stop impersonating people & trying to sell drugs

Facebook has sent a strongly-worded letter to the U.S.'s DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) telling them to stop creating accounts on the social network to impersonal real people and try to catch criminals. This comes shortly after the government agency was revealed to have used a real woman's identity to message others offering drugs, eventually getting the woman wrongly arrested.

While the U.S. Department of Justice has tried to defend the DEA's actions, Facebook chief security officer Joe Sullivan wrote that the company is "deeply troubled" by what happened, and argues that its terms and policies were violated, specifically the real identity requirements. The letter continues that law enforcement agencies are not above these rules, and such sting operations are a threat to Facebook's integrity, and its users' trust.

In a response to BuzzFeed, a Justice Department spokesman said that the DEA's case was still being reviewed, adding that as far as they know, they don't believe law enforcement agencies resort to this sort of practice frequently. In other words, the Justice Department is just going to go with the benefit of the doubt on this activity.

Contrary to what it may seem like, I have ample respect for police officers who investigate and attempt to solve actual crimes where there is an actual non-consenting victim who has been victimized in some manner deemed unlawful.

The consumption of mind altering substances by non-violent, tax paying, otherwise law abiding individuals does not meet the criteria for such a crime, yet is treated just as harshly, if not even more so.

In light of this injustice which has resulted in the persecution and prosecution of countless good men and women in America and its allies by the DEA, I'd like to offer the following sincere words of my feelings towards them:

Dear Drug Enforcement Agency, you are the most rotten, feral, disgraceful of all thugs in uniform - ruining lives for your own financial gain. And if this world was a little more just, you'd all be rotting away in a third-world prison rife with used/discarded needles, littered with fecal matter, and devoid of anyone who gives two shits about your quality of life.

If the drug warriors (that would be you) of the war on (certain) drugs are to be considered combatants in a formal war, then congratulations, because your rank of heinous scum has gone up from modern day privateers to bona fide war criminals. And as actual war criminals, you're certainly entitled to be treated as such. And whether that means some of you will be hanged remains to be seen, but considering the amount of innocent lives you've snatched away from their loved ones for no rational reason, the hangman's noose may indeed be waiting down the line.

Try not to squeal in a high-pitched tone that would make a choir blush if you do end up in this predicament, but do instead remember that what goes around has come around in your case. Yippee ki-yay greedy, murdering, thieving, two-faced pigs.

I'm sure this kind of thing happens in other drug cases. The worst part about it is that it not only pits the person in danger but their families as well. When police use someone like a ci who got busted with a tiny amount AMD scare the shit out of them unless they cooperate, they make them do deals and put them in situations where they are so out of their depth.

Just look at that girl in Miami iirc where she was wired up with the cops doing a deal on tape and got killed. The cops were probably like oh well...we can just get another one..the cops don't care.

I remember that - a girl has her life taken from her, all because of a government hard on for the control of a mind altering substance. Absolutely disgraceful.

@ro4eva- I very much enjoyed the letter and have the same feelings about the DEA. They deserve hell and nothing else. The lowest form of life. Worthless, inhuman, wastes of space. Fuck em all!
