Cops said suspected drug dealer Taylor Harrison, 21, boasted about his illegal activities on his Facebook page. He also shared a shirtless selfie featuring a pile of cash, a supply of drugs and a Martin County Sheriff's Office patrol car.

A Florida man who boasted on social media about how easy it was to deal drugs right under the cops’ noses was arrested on Thursday.

Taylor Harrison, 21, was booked for selling cannabis to undercover narcotics detectives, the Martin County Sheriff's Office said.
The Port St. Lucie man posted a picture of a MCSO patrol car that had pulled up beside him on Facebook.

He also shared a shirtless selfie of himself sitting in his own car with a wad of cash and stash of drugs in his lap. The MCSO patrol car can be clearly seen in the background.

I take it cops really dont like their own lies waved under their noses.. you all lost a long time ago. Hope you get off Harrison.

Idiot. Cops have software that scours social media for images of drugs or drug references, and putting it on Facebook is the same as putting a DRUGS FOR SALE sign on your front lawn.

I regularly hear the local police special operations teams discuss their suspects' facebook pages over the scanner. That's one way of who they are associated with. Running background checks on the suspect's facebook friends gives them leads and often helps them locate individuals with outstanding arrest warrants. It's easier than getting them do talk about who they might know. If he information is made public, they can use it without a warrant.

Be careful who you friend on facebook!

Don't agree with this tyranny, but by gloating on Facebook about your stash of ganja and cheese, you might as well dial 911 and ask the piggies to scoot on over and claim your property as theirs.

Facebook's owners regularly bend over for law enforcement.

That just sounds like paranoia. I doubt it is productive to random scan 100 thousand facebook profiles for drug references to bust end users for small amounts. Notice this guy sold drugs to an undercover. If police are looking at your friends only profile it's because you friended a cop or informant. They can call FB and get the magic key and they would if you were a serial killer or terrorist. They didn't find those pictures because of random scanning software. The technology exists and they use it to combat child exploitation, but its not a practical way to find drug dealers.
As stupid as it may be half my FB friends post all sorts of incriminating pictures including their grows and nothing ever happens. Now if you have rat friends that is a whole different thing. Posting shit that your "friends" may report is why these stories happen. It isn't because of an all knowing all seeing big brother.

^ all the same, as databases of social circles, affiliations and other personal information goes, fb is an LE wet dream.
Ditched it years ago, never looking back.

I read about it here. I can't find the story now, and maybe it was bullshit, but it said that US police used algorithms to search twitter for evidence of drug activity in their geographic areas.

Yes, they use automated bots to do the work. Not all PD's have or use these however as police had a tendency to not grasp onto technology as quick as others.

This kid was asking to get arrested. I don't agree with the laws, however he acted like a jackass and got what happens when you're 21, dealing and cocky as fuck. Kids dealing these days have no code.

What an idiot...I javnt had a fb in yeeeeears. I don't have any of that social media bullshit.

I feel somewhat awkward to admit that I still don't have a Twitter account. So every time I hear others around me at work yap away about "hash tags" and/or "re-tweets" it confuses the shit out of me. I just nod away... "yep..... mhmm.... zzzzzzz" (Am I missing much?)

$55,000 bond for selling some flowers.
Meanwhile, real criminals - you know, with a victim and all - usually get far less.
Crazy world.

Yeah but he kind of had to imagine something like this would happen. No authority can much stand their dominance being undermined so rudely. I think law enforcement generally knows the way the war on drugs in going, but too fast of a change and things get ugly just the same.

Me neither. I never even created a facebook account simply because of the reason that I did not want drug related information about me to be displayed puplicly. Even if I had not put up stuff, I'm sure some of my not so bright friends would send me stupid messages for all the world to read.

Although I do not in any way agree with the "war on drugs" & all the related carnage from it. This jackass got what he deserved, posting such a retarded pic & taunting the cops like he did. Also this story serves as yet another precautionary tale of why to be very selective about what you put out on social media about yourself. I personally do not use FB, twitter, or any of the other "guess what I'm doing/thinking right at this very second" services because of how it can be used against you. Not only by law enforcement but also by employers, in civil legal matters, somebody with a grudge against you, etc. Not a lot of people understand once you push send it is truly out for the whole world to see & can never be actually deleted. Just cause you can delete it from your account does not mean it can't ever be found again.
