face cleansing

That seems like it would be very harsh on skin. I'd reccamend tea tree oil (yes, an oil) You can get it from The Body Shop in a gel or foam face wash, and I'm sure lots of other companys make it, but thats the only one I've tried. The foam stuff from the body shop does wonders, just massage it into your skin with your fingers, it leaves your skin soft and smooth without over-drying.

How's the smell on that? Is it as overbearing as regular TTO?

I have had really good luck with a couple of Clinique products (yes, they are on the pricier side, but the products last me a good long time)

I wash my face in the shower every day with their mild facial soap.

I moisturize with their Total Turnaround Concentrate cream. It makes my skin feel really nice and soft.

Try a Benzoyl peroxide product..It's actually all that Proactiv is...You will NEVER break out again....

disclaimer: I'm not a doctor, don't take my advice.

Benzoyl Peroxide gets at the root of the problem. Bacteria living in your pours.

My dermatologist prescribed me Benzoyl Peroxide cream, anti-bacterial soap for sensitive skin, and some other anti-bacterial. He said benzoyl peroxide was doing most of the work.

I washed my face with the anti-bacterial soap in the morning, and put on a thin film of benzoyl peroxide before bed. It worked great while I was doing it. Problem is, I kept getting the benzoyl in my eyes and they were constantly red so I stopped. But it worked great while I was using it! Just make sure you get a gel, and make sure to get the strong stuff( 0.10% I think? ). Maybe work your way up to that strength.

If this sounds a little complicated go with Proactiv, I doubt they have anything special in there(like I said benzoyl peroxide is the star of the show), but at least it comes with a clearly defined routine to follow.

Personally I like the smell. When its in the bottle though, it is pretty strong, but once its rinsed off you cant really tell at all. I mean someone walking by you isnt going to be able to smell it, but if they go up to kiss you they might be able to.

some people have a bad reaction to tea tree oil, including myself, it causes massive red spots any where it touches my skin.

i have used all sorts of essential oils, high dollar cleansers, and lotions. what works the best for me is Skin Milk products.

Tea tree oil is estrogenic, not good to use for cosmetic reasons.

I guess since it's on my face and I can smell it, I think everyone else can smell it.

I wasn't sure if the wash was as potent.

Yes. Like I said. All proactiv is is 2.5% benzoyl peroxide and if you have sensitive skin, it will make it irritated and more sensitive to sunlight...

You can go to any store and get it...Neutragena has a good Benzoyl product
